Getting to the show years late, I never realized it was so funny, it', s actually hilarious, one of the best dark comedies of all time, and less like "Billions" and more like Mad Men, with HBO production values, its' really a very sharply dialed satire, which Mad Men, was not. I ignored it all these years for whatever dumb and inaccurate reasons. Thought it was like a more serious show.
all the back and forth about who is worse, who is better, who really deserves it, (probably none of them) is kind of beside the point to me. Even the palace intrigue of whose the CEO is not really the point, thus knowing what happens in the finale, and having about 20 episodes left doesn't bother me.
it's a show totally about style, and comedy, and showcasing/satirizing/critiquing various aspects of modern "intellegesntia" life
The Sun Valley satire
Nonsense corporate speak
The toothlessness of Senate hearings
The hypocrisy of politics
The PR spin of corporations
The absurdity of Broadway
Politics of the Department of Justice/Southern District
Absurdity of high profile lawyers, ex Lisa Bloom/Lisa Arthur
"liberal" media marketing, social media marketing
very sharp criticism of both liberal and conservative "values", as shown through archetypes, The Pierces and the Roys, and types of class.
I get it's a very human thing but the CEO role is kind of not even important at all. It's a set piece for the rest of the shows intentions.
