ay, so i'm replaying season one and El opened the gate when in the water tank and she touched the monster, but this season it opened when she killed One...am i just supposed to accept that the season 1 tank scene was a convoluted memory of killing One (metaphorically touching him)? I don’t even understand what you’re asking. But El opened the gate twice. The first time in the battle with One, the second with the demigorgon. She had no memory of the battle with One. The whole incident broke her mentally and she completely blocked those memories.
