I thought it was solid-to-good, but not great. Keaton killed it, as 29th best Spidey villain CTHU. Bokeem was solid as Shocker #2. The supporting cast was EHHH at best. Not-Ganke was cool, but the rest of them had no impact to me. Spidey is just as much his supporting cast, as it is Parker. There was also too much Stark.

I think I don't like this reinterpretation/modernization of Peter Parker. He's not 616 Parker and not really even Ultimate MU Peter Parker. It's not my Peter Parker, which is OK. It seemed to be made for kids. A lot of y'all seem to enjoy it, which is cool. It just is what it is.

I thought it was good, not great. It definitely isn't in the Top Tier MCU movies for me...and probably the tied for 3rd best Spidey-flick

They reinterpreted him for today. And I know that's not going to work for everyone tho which I get. But a bully today is more of a rich a$$hole who thinks he's the shyt. And that's always been flash. They just took out the physical intimidation part and stuck with the verbal and arrogant aspect
Yeah I get that, but at the same time I don't, a bully of today will still beat the piss out of you, it sounds more like a "nerd bully" rather than bullies we grew up with that still very much exist today.

How can you say it wasn't rushed? There's no build up at all. He literally goes from worker to villain without hesitation.

People lose jobs every day, they don't become arms dealing murderers at the drop of a hat because of it.

His only motivation is money, not exactly interesting.

I'm fine with Keaton's performance but the writing was really forced and not believable.

Like I said theres just no build to him. It's snap of a finger he's a villain and then shoe horn in a monologue trying to justify his actions.

And action wise he was a let down because the fight scene on the plane was poorly filmed with it being so dark and having quick cuts, reminded me of the mummy.

He's not terrible, but I thought he was completely wasted. He had tons of potential but there was just no meat on the bone.

Yeah that fight was like :dahell: is going on

It's a good flick I'll admit but this iteration seemed more suited for Miles Morales than Peter Parker.

Michael Keaton was the highlight of this movie though.

I just want to take a moment to :salute:Michael Mando.

The come-up from playing Vic in 'Orphan Black' to Nacho in Better Call Saul to getting the Mac Gargan role :whew:

Also - he's a potential Venom host if they ever decide to go that route :leon:

Nacho woild be 1000000x better as Venom than Topher Grace :mjlol:

It's ultimate peter parker breh, same guy they've been trying to put on screen since 2011 really. Tom Holland is basically Bendis' Peter come to life, for better or for worse:russ: because I know how some people feel about Bendis

Yeah I don't know if it can sustain that. Peter's world is dark at times, yes and he's most definitely a guy steeped in tragedy, but he himself isn't a dark character. A story like Kraven's Last Hunt would be dark but that would be a one off and you'd need to lay the proper emotional groundwork for that to work properly anyway and that's not something you should do with a high school spider man anyway. Batman works darker because batman is a deeply scarred character who deals in a noir-inspired world where Gotham City is like the worst place on earth. Ever. His stories tend to be more psychological and violent because of that. Most of the times they've tried to go dark with spider man in the comics, it's crashed and burned, wit Kraven's Last Hunt being the exception but even that wasn't widely accepted when it first came out and it took a while for everyone to come around to it and see it as a masterpiece.

Outside of his early Daredevil run with Maaleev, I've never really cared for Bendis' renditions personally. He's pretty much hit or miss.
Parker just looked shoehorned in this world to me. Miles would've fit like a glove in this scenario :francis:
I did like the film but it's not better than the 1st Spiderman.
