The same happened to me recently as well, not sure if it was plantar fasciitis or just bursitis. Turns out it was some nerve damage.

I fukked up my ankle a couple months ago and then a month ago fukked it up again. I'm afraid to fall off the treadmill. I'm just going to stick to weights for now.

It's not weird for me...but I can see how he would find it weird. He's like my ex's total opposite lmao. Progressive, laid-back, not an a$$hole.
