From The Verge:

  • Dragon's Dogma II: PS5 Pro mode currently hitting 55–60fps VRR in the city, capped at 60fps outside, at PSSR-upscaled 4K resolution. Wouldn't discuss internal resolution.
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: One single PS5 Pro mode at PSSR-upscaled 4K60, variable internal resolution. Best showcase game for the PS5 Pro, as the original PS5's performance mode looks muddy by comparison. Can clearly see scratches on Cloud's sword from five feet that are invisible in original PS5's performance mode; can barely make them out at eight feet.

Don't miss our first PS5 Pro vs PS5 graphics comparison featuring side-by-side analysis as well as PS5 Pro gameplay and PS5 gameplay. Oliver Mackenzie joins us to talk about several of the games shown during a recent PS5 Pro hands-on event and we get to take a peek at how they perform against their PS5 counterpart. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Pro vs PS5 graphics are compared. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Pro vs PS5 Graphics are compared, as well as several other titles like Demon's Souls, Dragon's Dogma 2, F1, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, The Last of Us Part 2 (TLOU 2) and more. We dive deep into the PS5 Pro enhancements each game has, what you can expect in terms of PS5 Pro gameplay performance, and how it stacks up against its PC counterparts.

Even if the game does not support the enhanced directly, there is a game boost feature which makes the current PS5 games and PS4 games run at a higher clock rate. So if those games also have dynamic resolution or variable frame rates, those games also will get a boost and run better," he says

Anyone hoping this was gonna be some mid gotta eat shyt:yeshrug:

In the wake of the PlayStation 5 Pro reveal, press had the opportunity to go hands-on with the hardware - and a wide range of games - at an event in Sony's San Mateo HQ. Oliver Mackenzie was our man on-site, and he's come back with a wealth of gameplay impressions, b-roll of the event and the titles tested and on-camera developer interviews. Is the upgrade worthwhile? Oliver is joined by Rich to discuss the event and to talk specifics on the range of modes and games tested.

0:00:00 Overview
0:02:07 F1 24
0:08:42 Gran Turismo 7
0:13:46 Horizon: Forbidden West
0:20:34 Hogwarts Legacy
0:24:45 Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel's Spider-Man 2
0:34:50 The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
0:38:46 Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
0:43:21 The Crew Motorfest
0:45:38 Demon's Souls
0:49:13 Dragon's Dogma
0:53:53 Is the PS5 Pro worth it?

Separate thread because it's an hour long video.

Ultimately, if you do value that fidelity and you either want to see more ray tracing or you prefer to game in a performance mode, then the PS5 Pro could be a worthwhile investment. Of course, there's an argument to be had about the trade-offs between a PS5 Pro and a PC, but certainly in terms of a hassle-free gaming experience at a certain price and visual quality level, the PS5 Pro has its merits. It's unfortunate that the Pro console this generation is as expensive as it is, but it's a different era in terms of how much new process nodes cost - the savings that made Pro consoles workable in the past just aren't around in 2024.
