Why is Xbox not releasing a Pro console? Do they feel they're losing so badly it's not even worth it?

The PS5 is now series S status.

:wow:

Series S is Xbox One X Pro :mjlol:

PS5 is equal to XSX. Game developers don't have problems with PS5 at all. Game developers have problems with Series S, so therefore Series S is holding XSX back while PS5 is eating. XSX better be worried about GTA 6 because of Series S. GTA 6 will have had an enhance for PS5 Pro.

Thats probably part of it. They had a intricate mid-gen refresh (the cylinder) that was leaked and cancelled probably because they realized the R&D isn’t worth it, same with their dualsense like controller that came out in the same leak. Sony only expect to sell likes 12%-15% of the total ps5 lifetime sales in the Pro SKU. Thats a good amount when you sell for profit of 120m console base.

When you’re selling maybe 40-45m a generation (if they go another 4 years with the current gen) it doesn’t make sense to try and sell 10%, and it wouldn’t even be that, maybe 2-5% of hardcore xbox players would buy it instead of buying a mid-range pc.

Xbox also already has two power sku’s having a 3rd would just lead to even more games skipping or being delayed on their platform.

It just leads me to continue to believe Microsoft don’t have a clear vision when it comes to hardware and they never have. They thought about the short term of hitting sony on the low end with price making the S and on the high end with power with the X. They had to have known that sony would do another mid-gen refresh but they wanted the immediate lead that just didn’t pan out because their software situation never improved.

There were a lot of people saying the series s was a no brainer when it was priced at 300, mid-way into the generation that thing is an anchor. Which is why microsoft now made a digital series x. It was just another bad move by team xbox
