NO
Another thing that was unrealistic

Darlene had no goons. She's running a million dollar heroin business, beefing with the KC mob and the cartel, and had no f*cking goons. Just her and Wyatt and a shotgun :martin:
They do have goons, they were in the barns making the heroin. Remember when her husband said “grab the boys” when she shot the cartel and had a bunch of armed men blocking the gate but I forgot why they did that.

She killed a high rank cartel member season 1 and the leader of the kc mafia

just unbelievable writing thatll knock this series down from the wire/breaking bads of the world.

still entertaining but she shoulda had her head cut off season 1 :manny:

She also shot the dikk of a mob boss son then pulled up to their headquarters with a deal they took lmao. Sr would have been seen as a weak p*ssy if he let her leave alive lucrative deal or not.

I hear you but Breaking Bad was just as ridiculous
Putting the realism in the same breath as The Wire is ludicrous. A high school teacher that turns into a mass meth producing killer that took down a cartel, kingpins, hit men and before the career change he didn’t have as much as a speeding ticket lmao. To make it even more unrealistic he didn’t under the nose of his brother in law that was a top DEA agent investigating him :mjlol:Dude might as well have had super powers. Ozark is more believable. At least Marty ain’t dropping bodies left and right. Talking about I’m the one that knock :heh:

Breaking Bad's story is ridiculous, but the writing and character development and overall ethos for the world they created is legendary status.

Realistic vs unrealistic only comes into the discussion when the story/plot starts becoming unbelievable for me.

There were always problems with Ozark's writing/plotting but for the most part, it got through seasons on good footing. While I liked this season overall the writing problems this season reached such a point that I just don't believe this show will ever reached the prestige TV peak it's aiming for.

These people waltz through the most dangerous possible situation imaginable like it's nothing. Safety is rarely an issue, they openly involve their children, they don't have security. Everything is sloppy. The way they discuss crimes over the phone. Openly allowing your son to work for a woman who you not only know is mentally unstable, but who is being targeted by the cartel. Followed by this season where they somehow semi bribe, semi convince the FBI to do its job on their terms. Everything works.

Javi could have been an interesting character. Criminal with a business degree...it was right there for the taking. I'm not mad that he was unhinged. But there's a difference between unhinged and returning to a potential crime investigation scene and killing a cop. And then returning again with Marty, to clean up the mess, and running into another cop who you almost kill until Marty stops you. Like what are we doing here at this point...that's just stupid television. I'm curious to see how he does as the king next season.

I think the key in contextualizing Ozark is realizing that the "white suburban person/couple getting deep in the drug game" is a genre that hinges on absurdity

You gotta suspend disbelief while leaving enough room to joke on the silly shyt that happens in these shows

Weeds was a cartoon, Breaking Bad was a CARTOON:mjlol:, Ozark is a little more grounded but is still cartoony

Part of the appeal of these shows are how unrealistic they can get. It's akin to the way you gotta turn your intelligent brain off before enjoying the fukkery in them Fast and Furious movies:russ:

That said I will never get over that train robbery in Breaking Bad season 5:dead::dead::dead:
