fukk it, after having my expectations flattened for years by Disney's stewardship of the franchise this is the best thing they've put out yet
Really?
Maybe he remembers that there was good in him.
Moreso than Luke could have, because Ben Kenobi remembers Qui-Gon's dying wishes. And knew pre-vader Anakin.
Anakin's narrative is a whole lot of people giving him the benefit of the doubt (qui gon, obi-wan, palpatine), and Anakin proving all of them wrong, at one point or another.
Well yeah, from a meta standpoint Vader obviously can't die I"m just saying there's no in-story justification for Obi-Wan letting him go again. It was basically PIS (plot induced stupidity). They wrote it in a way where the protagonist had to do something that didn't really make sense just to fit canon.
They could have done something like have Palpatine/Inquisitors show up to help Vader (forcing Obi-Wan to flee) instead of just having Obi-Wan let him go.
