I had low expectations because everyone I know hated the film but I enjoyed it. Cinematography was good. The acting was solid. The monster was creepy.
I wish we got to see where it's actual body or mouth was. Claustrophobia and then devoured. Yikes.

I knew the movie had to have one moron when that stupid ass director got up to try and capture the footage.
Still don't understand how that dumb ass slipper ended up sitting up straight but I guess that isn't important as how it made Asian bruh delusional
I don't think you're supposed to know how the shoe stood. Jupe never knew what happened, so we don't know either. We just know it was another of many "bad miracles" in the movie - every day inexplicable stuff happens in people's lives that's good and they call it a miracle, but like OJ said there are bad miracles too.
The fact that you believe this shyt is deep enough not to get, is the problem with film/TV discourse nowadays. These delusions of grandeur where folks build their expertise around watching some mainstream films and think it's the apex of cinematic storytelling, and anybody that dare voice anything not in tune with the groupthink doesn't understand some ABC-123 shyt is hilarious.
Beyond its spectacle, there is nothing there.
It's a fun film, and anyone trying to force some deep, meaningful subtext (that it horribly stumbles over) is on some smart dumb shyt.

Maybe, it's more likely that it was just random and he's falsely latching on to that randomness to explain the situation. The same sort of false hope that made him think the UFO was something he could control.
Even if it "did" save his life, it's a pretty weak silver lining in the midst of all that horror. Just like getting the photos of the UFO might save the ranch but only after enormous death and destruction resulted.
I sort of realized this already, but just wanted to mention that pretty much the only role White people have in the movie is to be dikks and/or die.
