I liked it
Nope is the cinematic equivalent of Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers.
One of the key elements in Peele's other movies is the pacing. Those movies engage you almost immediately and takes you through the story efficiently.
This one just meanders and takes forever to get to the damn point.
Nope also falls victim to the Achilles' Heel of suspenseful or mysterious movies.
It expends so much energy trying to conceal that it forgets to actually reveal anything.
So unless you're the types that whose brain is working overtime to figure out wtf is going on, you'll be lost.
Kaluuya's character and his acting choices didn't make much sense. He and Peele were probably going for world weary and understated, but instead the character came off as numb and barely alive.
The cameraman was right out of a comic book. The all black clothes and the overdone gravelly voice came off as unrealistic.
The script was not strong. Peele overdid it on the cursing where actual meaningful dialogue should have been.
Keke tried her best, but it just came off as "sassy Black girl" stereotype.
Let's see if Peele does better next time. Would hate to see him go out like M. Night.
Imagine if lions could only eat things that made eye contact with them.
Nonsensical.
Universal will probably put it on peacock before the end of the year.i'm blown away that this is still not available to rent.
