A lot of artists lobby and campaign. Doesn’t mean they’ll win. Freddie Gibbs campaigned and lobbied HARD in 2021 and still lost to Nas. Nas himself did a bit of campaigning in 2013 when he was nominated.
Campaigning is part of the politics. I don’t think its corny to believe in yourself and the body of work you put out. All artists, including rapper should be proud and think they’ve made the best album. Its one of the few things I liked about Kanye when he used to lobby and straight up say “My album is the best of the year. I deserve all the accolades”. Because he (at the time) was putting REAL effort into his projects.

even d'evils can't fukk with nas is like, but yeah, that's jay and primo best track. but more because of jay's lyrics and performance than the actual beat (still a good beat don't get me wrong). nas is like got it all

Yea. So Ghetto is a classic song but Nas Is Like has to be a top 20-50 rap song of all time. I wish I could find a clip of it being played by Flex or Angie for the first time.
