If Nas wins he’d literally be making history. It would be an unprecedented achievement.

I get that Travis has the industry juice, the album was/is a massive success etc but...that album isn't particularly good and I think most industry people understand that. This isn't like when Kanye or Kendrick dropped critically acclaimed albums that sold well, got all the rap nominations PLUS the AOTY nom. Travis didn't get an AOTY nom and I think that's really telling. Maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe Travis being an a$$hole behind the scenes doesn't matter either.

Nas winning would be the better story. Metro winning would be the better story. Killer Mike winning would be the better story.

Nas winning would DEFINITELY be the better story and he’d have the critical and past winner’s edge over Killer Mike but the facts are that in the 28 years that the Best Rap Album has been presented at the Grammys, the best selling album amongst the nominees has won TWENTY TIMES, including the year Nas won. Not only that, but Utopia has almost tripled the sales of KD3 and the last time an album managed to overcome such a juggernaut and win was in 2018 when Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book beat out Drake’s Views. And Coloring Book was eventually certified Gold whilst KD3 will more than likely never be certified.

Thats why i’m saying that Nas would literally be doing something that’s NEVER happened in the 28 year history of Best Rap Album at the Grammys. The reason I think he has a true fighting chance is because he’s been super active this year with the Hip Hop is 50 celebrations and I can see him getting some serious behind the scenes support for everything he did spear heading the exaltation of the artform. The Paid In Initiative is a HUGE thing that won’t go unnoticed amongst voters. Not to mention the fact he dropped THREE incredible albums within the eligibility window. He’s definitely got a fighting chance but I think he’d have even more of a chance had he scored nominations in Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance (he submitted for both) that would have signified widespread support amongst the voters

We’ll see though

So at Nas peak notoriety, which was the battle, she 5yrs old. So, I get her..

My thing be the level of just not giving props and whatever attitudes the younger kids have. And they dont have a memorable moment of their own.. thats wild

To people in our demographic (men in early 30s or older) sure. But I'm not convinced either are ranked high by most people in their 20s right now. And that's fine, I don't really care lol, each generation is going to change. There was a time where it felt like the consensus was Wayne/Jay/Kanye to people, then it shifted to Drake/Cole/Kendrick, then Future got in the mix, then others. At this point Jay and Nas are so divorced from what a lot of young people fukk with that I'm not shocked they aren't mentioned as much now. At some point in the 00s the same thing happened to Rakim/Kane/KRS/etc.

We got multiple generations of kids stacked on top of each other who never lived at a point where Nas was on the radio, had a hit, or any type of "moment" they noticed. Jay is at that point with at least one generation now too. Kids weren't bumping Story Of OJ in 2017, they were playing Fortnite and bumping XXXTentacion lol. In that Revolt vid the guy defending Nas is in his late 30s or early 40s. The other chick is younger, I'm not expecting her to have Nas in her top 10. And Trina from the south so I'd expect her to have southern rappers in her top ten

This is all well and good but Teirra Wack was literally on her Twitter in 2012 praising Life Is Good and specifically the song Daughters. She said she spoke to Nas and it damn near had her in tears.

Same thing for Symba. Dude said Nas was in his top 5 on Twitter.

I’m honestly confused with why they were so disrespectful on here.

Because talking about Nas gets the computers puting and for some reason talking negatively about Nas makes people go viral.

It was evidenced with the 21 Savage situation and even years beforehand with Vlad always asking everyone about Nas beat selection. Elliot Wilson throwing shots at Nas in interviews and on social media. Dream Hampton coming out of nowhere saying Nas used Jay Electronica and Stic.Man as ghostwriters. Ny Oil saying Nas was overrated and he shouldn’t name his album ****** and then when the album came out recanting and saying he was wrong. Hell Jay-Z calling out Nas at Summerjam. If you talk shyt about Nas you’re going viral. Teirra Wack just dropped a new song and absolutely NOBODY gives a fukk, but last week her name was on blogs and trending on Twitter for disrespecting Nas
