While I always think Nas should do more interviews it's worth noting most of these shows aren't getting big names for interviews. Drake, Kendrick, and Cole haven't been to Hot 97 or Power 105 in forever. Same with Jay, Kanye, Eminem, Nicki, etc. I also think Nas selling out MSG without having to do interviews all day like it's 2003 is very impressive and a massive statement. Especially in an era where guys like Camron, Jadakiss, and others have struggled to sell out far smaller venues with no radio support either.
Artists are a lot more careful with interviews now. There's more focus on being mysterious (Beyonce, Kendrick) or carefully curating who is allowed to talk to you and what they say (Drake). Or complete radio silence like Cole. While I like artists pulling back or ignoring our current culture of nonstop access and consumption, I do think they should all do more interviews. You can go back and watch David Bowie or MJ interviews from the 80s/90s and find truth or value in what is being said. I def think that's important for art and artists. But I also understand them wanting to interact with this shyt on their own terms. Think about how long we went not even knowing Kendrick had kids, and then he revealed their names on the album. That's him controlling his own narrative. Same with Rihanna withholding private information until she wants it revealed.
