the less you rap the easier it is to have content when you do. Much harder to have 4 albums worth of verses in 2 years at 45+

Nas if he took a hiatus for 2-4 years would have a monstrous verse on a feature. And having said that Nas has had verses as good as anyone last 2 years on this run. But a verse gets more hype and attention when they’re rare
Andre 3k is the poster child for this

Yep that's why it's imporrtant to document shyt like Nas didn't have the greatest guest verses in history in 95 :dead: . These dudes constantly moving goalpost. Don't tell me "What he did What is he doing now"?:sas2:

shyt cracks me up. If he'd dropped the Nas Album Done bars as a single verse on a Khaled track with Rick Ross and John Legend instead of a solo joint, you already know what they'd say.

"Yeah, crazy verse but can he still carry a full length project? We don't know, he ain't dropped one in 4 years"

While I always think Nas should do more interviews it's worth noting most of these shows aren't getting big names for interviews. Drake, Kendrick, and Cole haven't been to Hot 97 or Power 105 in forever. Same with Jay, Kanye, Eminem, Nicki, etc. I also think Nas selling out MSG without having to do interviews all day like it's 2003 is very impressive and a massive statement. Especially in an era where guys like Camron, Jadakiss, and others have struggled to sell out far smaller venues with no radio support either.

Artists are a lot more careful with interviews now. There's more focus on being mysterious (Beyonce, Kendrick) or carefully curating who is allowed to talk to you and what they say (Drake). Or complete radio silence like Cole. While I like artists pulling back or ignoring our current culture of nonstop access and consumption, I do think they should all do more interviews. You can go back and watch David Bowie or MJ interviews from the 80s/90s and find truth or value in what is being said. I def think that's important for art and artists. But I also understand them wanting to interact with this shyt on their own terms. Think about how long we went not even knowing Kendrick had kids, and then he revealed their names on the album. That's him controlling his own narrative. Same with Rihanna withholding private information until she wants it revealed.

Artists do interviews and the “Journalists” are either fishing for drama, beef, or trying to get them to say something that can get them “cancelled”.

I wouldn’t want to do interviews either. The Breakfast Club, whom I used to really fukk with, spends 30 mins fishing for some sort of scandalous soundbite and 10 mins on the artists projects.

With podcasts and social media, the artists can dole out information on they’re own now. Nas got a whole podcast he put last year where he talks to pioneers of hip hop and reveals more information about HIMSELF through those conversations than he has with any interviewer the last decade

Cipha Sounds has even admitted this. When super ugly dropped, Hot 97 did a poll of the listeners to see who won and Nas won so bad that they lied to make it seem close. He said it was the craziest shyt he’s ever seen. Everyone was so invested and it was like 90% Nas. They called it like 60/40 for Nas.

nikkas acting like Nas Stan’s arent justified for all the victory laps we’re taking. We’ve been through hell over our nikka.
I remember Fat Joe being in the building at the time. I think he said something a long the lines of they were hiding Nas votes in the closet. :dead:

Imagine if Jay followed up “4:44” with “5:55”, “Wizardy” and “6:66”… EACH ALBUM BETTER THAN THE LAST… and nikkas was like “It’s cool but he needs to drop a dope Khaled verse like Nas did…
