This was a great read, đŸ«Ą

People love it now (probably mostly his core tho) but I think in the next 10 years hip hop as a whole will really embrace and appreciate what Nas has done over the last 3 years, for real. It feels unappreciated or under-appreciated right now because a lot of kinda under the radar shyt takes that course initially. Once people become less distracted and caught up in contemporary culture news cycles and all that
I think they’ll double back and give Nas his flowers for this 4-fire albums back to back/MSG sold out legendary moment in hip hop/hip hop museum constructing
all while being a lowkey business tyc00n ass greatness from a man 30 years into his career. Keep in mind, before all of this he was already considered the Greatest Ever by many

Dope interview. I found this part interesting. Shows how the vocal minority of skeptics drove Hit to step his game up even more:

Even within the King’s Disease trilogy, you snuck in an album, Magic. Why’d you put that out and not just save those songs?

We had a number one album with King’s Disease II. At that moment when we found out it was number one, we were at this house and we were having a celebration and Hit wasn't smiling. I said, "What's up, bro?" And he said, "We got to do another project right away, because they might think that I can't deliver on a certain level, at a certain style. We're going to go harder real quick for the people." I was surprised that's where his head was. And I said, "shyt. That's the beats and stuff I love, so let's go in." So Magic just happened to happen, and we dropped it as a gift on Christmas.

This nikka Elliot just retweeted me lmao.

Everybody wanna be in the GOAT’s good graces now. I bet the media hype for KD4 is going to be unlike anything we’ve seen since Life Is Good.

And the best part is Nas predicted ALL of this 25 years ago. And he did it HIS way.

Nas is the most inspirational figure in Hip Hop. Even more so than Kanye because Nas never had to lose his mind to get to the mountain top

Today, It Was Written is celebrated like Illmatic. But at the time of its release in 1996, rap critics like myself weren’t ready for the change you were making. You and The Trackmasters were creating a new sound. What inspired that?

Well, I saw the same producers that I had worked with were now giving everybody else beats and then throwing me the same beats. That just wouldn't do it for me. So I decided to make my rap style a little bit harder for them to follow. They're not going to follow me on a song like, “The Message.” They're not going to follow me on “I Gave You Power.” They're definitely not going to follow me on “If I Ruled the World.” I got Lauryn Hill on it. They [didn’t] even fully get the Fugees at the time.

Love that now give us that IWW anniversary show :blessed: :blessed: :blessed: :blessed: :blessed:

I still remember the day Flex premiered this classic. My uncles had to tell me to STFU because I was so excited :dead: . Top 3 Nas song:wow::wow: bootlegging ruined Nas 3rd classic. We used to cut school damn near everyday looking for new Nas leaked songs :wow:. Even taking the Path train to NY cause we figured they have it before we did:mjlol::banderas:
