The power that Kevin Liles and Lyor Cohen had at that time can't be understated, they wasn't gonna let their guy get played, they made sure the media machine stayed behind him.

Sony had plenty clout too but be real they was dealing with high profile dispute with Michael Jackson and losing Mariah Carey, and they never gave a damn about their hip hop roster like that, they wasn't about to fight a PR war with Island Def Jam over a rap battle

Then the most recent on the Vibe Billboard list where they get Nas placement 90% of it is about Jay/Ether. He talks about having heard Ether early saying "IDK if this going to get released". BTW he was supposedly a young editor at the time the fix was in for one side. Stacked the deck &still lost. His mother making him apologize was just the icing on the cake

Everybody involved has told the truth after all these years but his fans still being delusional. Was it on Combat Jack when Bleek told the story about the first time they heard Ether while they was all in Miami. nikka sounded like his dog died…

I saw somewhere that if a station plays your song, every person listening to the station at that time counts as a stream.

Correct me if I'm wrong though. I hope I'm wrong because that's an insane way of measuring albums sold.

Yep that's why it's imporrtant to document shyt like Nas didn't have the greatest guest verses in history in 95 . These dudes constantly moving goalpost. Don't tell me "What he did What is he doing now"?

the less you rap the easier it is to have content when you do. Much harder to have 4 albums worth of verses in 2 years at 45+

Nas if he took a hiatus for 2-4 years would have a monstrous verse on a feature. And having said that Nas has had verses as good as anyone last 2 years on this run. But a verse gets more hype and attention when they’re rare
