The production on I Am is actually pretty unique and varied. It's just a cleaner sound than Illmatic and IWW, more keyboards, but that's cuz keyboard and synth beats were popping in 98-99...especially after FOMFBOMB and Vol 2 sold so much.
I love the beat on Ghetto Prisoners, I don't care. It's a dark synth beat that I swear If Jay or X or Pac or Twista or somebody else rocked over, people would have no problem. But since its Nas, its gotta be dusty boom bap or bust.
The keys on I Want to Talk to You are super unique too. It's kinda off kilter though so I get why not everyone would fukk with it. Not crazy about the chorus personally.
Money Is My bytch has a dope steel drum, what's not to like?
You Won't See Me Tonight got that classic Timbo bounce.
We Will Survive is smooth.
Life Is What You Make It and Favor for a Favor are BANGERS. LIWYMI has an Egyptian sitar on it or something? Probably a keyboard but it sounds like a sitar, which fits the album art perfectly.
