fukk all that I love Nasir and bump it regularly.

It was almost (key word ALMOST) a throwback to the I am era. And I liked I am
I love I Am. That illmatic, It Written and I Am run of albums is crazy. Nasir is very solid to me. You can tell it rushed work, but still had some good songs. This next album about to be crazy. I can feel it.

In hindsight, Nas working with Kanye was a bad idea. Their styles of working are completely different. And history has shown that Nas doesn't put out his best projects when he's rushing (I Am, Nastradamus). What makes it worse is Nas ended up scrapping the album he already had for this one, just because Kanye wanted to pull off some crazy experiment he was unprepared for.

If the approach was more like Daytona, it could have worked. Instead, it just made Nas look bad and give his critics/haters more ammo. There are definitely good songs on the album ("Not for Radio," "Bonjour," "Adam and Eve") and Nas' performance received way too much hate. But when your last album was six years ago, and it was a near-classic at worst, no one was willing to accept anything less from you.
Thankfully I'm sure he has those songs from those sessions and has probably added on to that. This next project and projects, I feel are going to be classic and universally accepted as classic. Mark my word on that. I think nas low key hears the haters and dirt that sometime gets thrown on his name these days. He is about silence all that noise.

Nasir was his worst album next to Hip Hop is Dead
Hip hop is dead is down toward the bottom of his discography for me personally. Still had some great to solid songs on there. Too me with that album and the title, that would have been a great album to go grab a No ID, Premo, Pete etc sonically to make that a certified classic and back to the essence. I dont hate it though. I feel the same way with streets disciple. I would have had one producer produce 1 album and another produce the other to make it more cohesive. Hip hop is dead, streets disciple and nastradamus are his only weaker spots for me personally. Although none of them are trash.

Kanye had a template to work with when it comes to Daytona. Pusha said he had an album already done, let Kanye hear it and Ye said he could make a better version of it, maybe Nas should've did the samething with letting Kanye listen to the album that was already done. However, I still like Nasir for what it is worth and it will be looked back on as a decent lp.

Yeah, I don't doubt that Nas is going to bring it on his next album. People have been counting him out since Nasir so it's time for him to remind everyone what happens when he puts out a project the old-fashioned way. :ahh:

I like Nasir too. People are acting like Nas made Revival whenever that album is brought up. But Kanye didn't put in the love and effort that he put into Daytona. If he sent Nas some beats for the album he was working on, that's fine. But he gets Nas to come to Wyoming and days pass without them working on anything. I bet Nas didn't even start recording until really late in the process, less than a month before it was released. What we got was decent as a whole, but when you look at previous Nas/Kanye songs ("We Major," "Still Dreaming," "Let There Be Light," "You Mean the World to Me"), it makes you wonder what could have been if this album came out in 2005 or 2006.

The entire process was rushed and then they botched the entire release. That's why I don't get why people defend it...it's not hating on Nas to say that shyt was weak, he's not to blame. It was a super quick recording process, over multiple tracks that don't even fit who Nas is as a rapper. Then they debuted an unmixed/un-mastered version of the album at a live listening party which colored perceptions. Then they waited until the very last minute to mix/master the album, causing an album delay/fukk up that resulted in Nas being clowned across the internet (as if it was his fault). I don't even remember the last time an album rollout was botched that bad, before or after. And let's not even talk about the album cover being bit from an online Nas remix collection, which also included a sample that was used on the album.

The frustrating thing is that the album has glimpses of greatness, like Adam & Eve. When I heard Daytona I thought we'd get something like that, beat wise. Nope. He gave Nas some beats that would have made sense on a Kanye album. Bah I don't wanna go over it again.

Fools always talkin about Nas has a bad ear for beats even though he picked the sample for one of the greatest beats of all time

Nas picking being a bad beat picker is the biggest myth in hip hop history. He has rapped on great beats and bad beats, just like every hip hop artist that has rapped for 30 years. Most people just run with narratives, because they can't think for themselves.

I feel bad for liking the album after reading this. :russ: :mjcry:

To add to that, there were also idiots wondering why Nas didn't address the Kelis allegations, even though they were very recent when the album came out. Considering when he started recording, he probably could have thrown in a line or two about it, but it would have just been to please some entitled idiots who demand Nas explain himself so they can cancel him sooner. :mjlol:

I still think if you remove the album from all the stink surrounding it, it's at least a 3/5. But Kanye fukked everything up for Nas and blew the one opportunity he had to get the man to work faster. Nas literally went against his own process to work with Kanye, and this is what ended up happening. :francis:

That's why I won't be surprised if Nas doesn't release a new album for a few more years. He's hoping people forget about this episode.
