I'm curious what that Nas and Lupe song sounds like

me too but I have to admit, I like 2 recent moves that Nas Has made, making his future projects look good.

-Pulling in Statik selectah
-Working with top mcs for features and if they don’t make the cut they go on TLT3

The Sade sampling joint that Swizz posted a few months ago might a safe bet.

Mayyyybeee some of the joints him and Timbaland worked on if he’s feeling like a summer radio push is in the cards

Nas usually has one or two producers be the “guiding hand” sonically of his past 6 albums

Streets Disciple- Salaam Remi
Hip Hop Is Dead- Will I Am
****** (Untitled)- Stic.Man
Distant Relatives- Damien Marley
Life Is Good- NO I.D. & Salaam Remi
Nasir- Kanye West

So i’m thinking next up is Swizz Beatz turn. Echo got lots of love and the tracks Swizz had on Lost Tapes 2 were fire and he even did a video for No Bad Energy.

if that's the case, I'd rather have Alchemist than Swizz

Swizz is good for a few tracks if they're like Echo, No bad Energy but I don't trust him with a full album

of course I'm wishful thinking I'd want an album full of Pete Rock, Premo, RZA and Alc and maybe I have coronavirus but give me Jay Electronica's beats under Nas

My dream formula for Nas is an album driven by NO ID beats with 1 or 2 tracks sprinkled in from any of the following:

Preme
Pete Rock
Alc
Statick
Swizz (Echo level)

Rza, Tanashia was dope but didn't love the other one.

You are in a recency bias. There are a couple tracks off the jay elec album I would have like nas to have, but not as a whole. In particular nas would have ate that universal solider joint.

I just want top tier beats, I don't care who they're from. Every year there are multiple rap albums with damn near flawless production

No ID, Alchemist, Just Blaze, Bink, Q-Tip, 9th, maybe Premo or Pete Rock. Cardo and Black Metaphor for trap beats. Terrace Martin adding his magic to some beats. Swizz as exec producer.

LIG is a great album with dope production overall. I don't like LT2 much but the production is good overall.

Every year we get albums with great or top tier beats. Bandana last year for instance. I'd love for Nas' next one to be in that conversation. I trust Swizz's ear and think he can collect the type of tracks/hooks/ideas that will make something special. His tracks on LT2 plus Echo convinced me he's got this.

I think he could give you a modern illmatic and there would still be arguments about beat choices etc. It's not happening. Y'all will never be satisfied.

The best songs on Nasir + LT2 will keep me happy for a long time. I don't need him to drop anything. His music stays ahead of time.

I listen to Jay Elec and Hov I hear untitled album and some of nasir.

NASTRADAMUS :wow:

So you like the production lt2 as I do but you dont like the like lt2? Nas was lyrically killing that album. Maybe we have different ears on that.

It's not bad, it's ok to me. My problem isn't the beats or rapping, overall. It just doesn't sound complete. I get that it's Lost Tapes but...the first LT was a complete album with complete songs. LT2 has multiple examples of songs with placeholder choruses (Royalty, Art Of It) or tracks that don't sound complete rap wise (QB Politics). Especially QB Politics...it's a good song, but the initial reaction was like it was a classic track. When you listen to it, it's obviously missing verses. It's an idea, basically. Then there are tracks with verses that feel like they needed to be re-written or sharpened (not because the lyrics are bad, but because the focus of the verse went left). Meanwhile there are tracks that just feel like...meh, I see why this was left off the album. Whereas every track on the first LT feels like it could fit on a 1999-2002 album and be a standout.

I think LT was a collection of songs over a smaller period of time so it's easier for them to fit. LT2 is over a 10 year period so a lot would have needed to be done to reshapen those songs to fit together.
