but Nas Album Done came out 2 summers before Nasir, he was sitting on that album

I think Nas just wasn't liking the record, or Def Jam wouldn't release it for some reason

also, am I the only one who has no desire to hear Sinatra in the Sands? Timberlake is corny af, I can already guess what Nas and Jay's verses are gonna sound like. And there's a reason why it was never released.

It wasn't released because whatever album Nas was working on was never released. As a huge Nas fan, some of his best songs are songs that never made albums and some of his worst ever songs somehow made it onto albums.

I want to hear what they are saying are "echo and better" level tracks by nas.
Facts. I remember hearing Mal talk about it on the joe budden podcast. It will be interesting. New decade, so we will see his direction.

See, I didn't really want to say this but I agree with both points. If Nas had bangers from Timbo and works done in 2013-2014, why would he sit on them? Music trends change faster than ever now so I believe that he just wasn't feeling it. If you have an album worth of heat, you put that shyt out. I remember hearing Chuck D saying they had an album ready to drop and then they heard Eric B and Rakim and had to go back and tool up again, finally making It Takes A Nation of millions. Someone do a timeline. We need to break this down. However, I do kinda want to believe what was said earlier too about him wanting to put his next major project on Mass appeal and did NASIR to complete the contract obligation.

Let see...

2012 - LIG drops
2014 - Nas working on new album with Timbaland Rapper also in the studio with No ID and Swizz Beatz for follow-up to 2012's 'Life Is Good'
- Nas drops "The Season"
2016 - Nas Album Done “All we're doing now is plotting when we’re dropping,”
2018 - Nas says that he has already produced another album, which could be a way to get the bad taste of this last project (NASIR) out of everyone’s mouths. “It’s another album that I already had been working on before,” Nas said. “Since I did [Nasir], I gotta do something that, you know, goes in another direction a little bit.”
2019 - Nas Drops TLT2, Says has enough for TLT3 and TLT4
2020 - Big Sean announcement, “By the way Nas gonna drop a new album,” Sean can be heard saying in the clip. “I’m putting Nas on blast right now.” Nas then replied, “It be something like that,” he says. “It’s kinda hard to replace me, man.”

I know I missed a lot, can someone fill in the blanks?

Also, Sinatra in the Sands is probably old now to me so there is no excitement there . As far as I'm concerned, they can throw that on LT3. I don't get hyped over a Nas/Jay track. I just want to hear Nas... and yes, I never could fukk with Justin Timberlake. LMAO.

As a Nas fan, you should already know Nas sits on incredible material for whatever reason and has released inferior material. I mean, why would Large Professor have any reason to say the music Nas did with Timbaland was crazy? Why would Nas say the songs were powerful? As to why we haven't heard it yet, well, there really is no good explanation as to why Lost Tapes is one of his best projects compiled of songs that never made albums.

And that's the thing with a lot of Nas fans, before "Echo" a lot of ya'll detested the idea of a Swizz helmed Nas album now a lot ya'll want one. And as a Nas fan, I'm saying ya'll because I never questioned it because as a fan, I'd rather hear it before I judge it.

And people are questioning JT on Hip Hop songs, but are only listing 1 or 2 songs. He has a great song with Pharaohe Monch from a Sergio Mendes album. Talib Kweli had a dope collabo with JT as well on Ear Drum. The Clipse sounded good with JT on "Like I Love You" and I personally liked JT's collabo with Three Six Mafia on "Chop Me Up". "Heaven" is one of Jay Z's better songs.

And again, Nas fans are fickle. Went from Nas should stay away from Swizz to welcoming Swizz on a new Nas album. I remember fans questioning RZA's contributions to Lost Tapes 2 before a single note was heard.

I also laugh at the assumption that Nas did some radio/commercial songs with Timbaland. Nothing released this far have indicated as such. That 15 second snippet didn't sound commercial at all. And we know nothing of how "Sinatra In The Sands" sounds except that it was described as a "Mafia meets Vegas" type of song by co-producer J-Roc.

Single or not, if Nas put out "Sinatra In The Sands", an album would likely HAVE to follow. That song would draw attention from people who would've never checked for Nas song before. It's a song that he can't just throw out there like that without a plan especially now because it has a mystique to it and is mythical because it has been talked about for years, but hasn't come out.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with 100% with what you said. That Sinatra in the Sands with HOV and JT would be a big record. Nas fans dont know what they want. Me as a massive fan, wants all the records he wants to drop.

I'm a huge fan too and want all the Nas music I can get but I'm just not excited about that one. I prefer some old Nasty Nas from the Sony vaults to Sinatra in the Sand any day.

I hope that the God loves and puts out Remarkable and classic hip hop music For a long time but how do think his music, books, shows, movies, both released and unreleased will be put out and used when he is no longer around?

Does Def Jam empty the vaults?
Does Sony empty the vaults?
Do they put out a box set?
Mass appeal let their stash go?

feel free to speculate

My theory is that Nas hasn't released a new album because it was simply unfinished. Like he had some key tracks, but it didn't have the completion feel. Nas had an album title ready to go in 2013, but he never announced it. Then the work he did with Timbaland, Swizz, and No I.D. was revealed in 2014, but he was real tight lipped and mysterious regarding details. Then there was nothing until the Timbaland snippet in 2015 and "Nas Album Done" in 2016. There was the Khaled interview where he talked about working with The Beatminerz, Large Professor, Swizz, and that Cool & Dre had sent him some Stevie Wonder level tracks. He talked about "Sinatra In The Sands" and it being a "serious" song (leads me to believe it isn't a radio friendly joint). Then there was like silence with Nas saying an album was coming, but it wasn't finished. He didn't say anything else until after Nasir. He talked about working with Swizz and RZA (some of those songs were on LT2).

Ok, so the recent Lupe, Big Sean and Kendrick sessions? Maybe he is trying to find new pieces to complete the album puzzle and the leftovers go on to TLT3 features album. Who else has he been in the studio with that we know of over the last 12 months?

Nas has been in the studio with Scott Storch and Hit Boy. We don't know if he did any music with Kendrick, but he and Lupe were in the studio. It's safe to say that he and Ross have probably amassed some songs as well.

Fam. U don’t know what the song even sounds like. nikkas need to chill. Cause it ain’t like people appreciated that he dropped a project with all of the Dream producers nikkas wanted him to work with for YEARS just last year. nikkas still complained.

Sometimes I wish G code or Anthony Saleh had more interviews so that we can get more info about what nas is working on. I enjoyed that Anthony Saleh rap radar interview a few years back

This is true. I thought Adult Film was gonna be the worst song on LT2 and it ended up pleasantly surprising me. I'm cool with Swizz working on the next album, I just don't want him talking all over it with that fake deep gibberish shyt like he did on Echo lol. He did do a good job on the Adult Film hook, so I'll just have to judge any future shyt when I hear it.
