8 out of 10 makes it more hip hop. And MisEd had more singing then rapping... i forgot the breakdown but I think 9/15 on MisEd were RnB tracks.

So, "Lost Ones" and "Final Hour" make Miseducation a Hip Hop album by your logic.

You're saying an album that has almost an entire album's worth of singing is more Hip Hop than an album where the main artist doesn't sing at all. Then you want to make a huge issue about Miseducation not being Hip Hop because you counted 9/15 songs as R&B songs, yet Drake's album is more Hip Hop than a Nas album because of one song. Makes no sense. It not only makes no sense, but also inconsistent. I hope you're trolling on both points.

How does this work? Doesn’t Def Jam have some claim to the music that was created during this period? I’m sure it depends on the terms of the contract but I’m realizing I have no idea how music/recording contracts work.

Mass Appeal and Def Jam are under the same umbrella. The day before Nasir dropped, Nas and Mass Appeal partnered with UMG.

All I know is it's the softest Nas joint ever.

  • You wealthy when your kid's upbringin' better than yours
  • When the media slings mud, we use it to build huts
  • People do anything to be involved in everything, Inclusion is a hell of a drug
  • Some people have everything they probably ever wanted in life, And never have enough
  • The child's introduction to suffering and pain, Understands without words, nothin' is explained, a rush to the brain
  • My first house, 11,000-square-feet mansion, It was a haunted by dead rich whites, Mad a nikka bought his crib to hang up pictures of black Christ :mjlol:
  • The ghosts of gangsters dance, Chinchillas shake on the hanger, the force of this banger
  • Before I had a piece of paper, peace was in my favor:ohhh:
  • They ain't stopped printin' money, 'cause they made mine
  • I'm lookin' in Longevity's eyes, I play with Infinity's mind, Forever's my guy
  • Never sold a record for the beat, it's my verses they purchase, Without production I'm worthless
  • But I'm more than the surface, Want me to sound like every song on the Top 40, I'm not for you, you not for me, you bore me
  • Look at my album plaques, somebody agrees with the music
  • Hate to brag, my worst batch kills off your best cutie:shaq:

Some of these are dope, but I get the complaint. "Locomotive" and "Reach Out" are probably more quotable than these.

The DEAD END HIPHOP brehs just did a classic review of IWW on their patreon channel.

Few highlights:

- Feefo was the only one who said it was his favorite Nas album+one of his favorite albums of all time
- Beezy loves it but prefers Illmatic
- Ken says he loved it but thinks it sounds outdated now
- Mike just thinks it's cool, he does say that this was Nas at his lyrical peak.
- Mike also said to him Gods Son is Nas worst album except for Nastradamus :francis:
- They all agreed IWW was a classic because it made Nas a household name + he was one of the few greats to overcome the sophomore slump.
- Said VOLUME2 did the same for Jay-Z.

Nas is on the new Swizz Beatz album that is coming out this summer

also:

Swizz told Pitchfork that the Nas feature on Poison was originally recorded for an as-yet-unreleased Nas full-length the two made together. “I did his album two years ago in one week in L.A.,” he said. “In the studio every day at 12 o’clock, just bang bang bang. Recorded the whole thing, got it all on film. It was an ill process.” Swizz described the Nas tracks as “super crazy, maniac shyt.”
