Nas has a writing credit on Drake's album (Mob Ties). Sample is from Affirmative Action but it's the beat, not lyrics. Wonder how he got that credit, when he didn't produce Affirmative Action?

Cormega got a credit too. Can't hate on writing the gods a check.

Cause the song that the beat belongs to, is on his album, so technically he gets a credit for the beat. Cause they had to go on a nas album to get the sample.

Like lets say pizza hut buys their marinara sauce from safeway, and you order catering from pizza hut for a function. You're gonna big up pizza hut, not the marinara sauce company...

I think who ever is an ingredient in the final product gets a credit when it's sampled

It sounded more like the original sample than the Affirmative Action beat to me.

Only skimmed through the album (wasn’t impressed) did they utilize any vocals as like Background add ons?

No. It's just the guitar sample with some type of filter on it. I can't tell if it samples Affirmative Action, or the original sample. Must be AA since everybody got a writing credit.

Possibly owns IWW masters?

EDIT: I read now days artists give full feature credit to avoid any possible litigation

"Not For Radio" and "Adam & Eve" say otherwise. How exactly is Nas's album softer? As I recall, you the same dude that argued Miseducation of Lauryn Hill wasn't a Hip Hop album, but Drake's new album is supposedly more Hip Hop than Nas's new album. I believe the argument you used against Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was that it had a lot of singing on it.

8 out of 10 makes it more hip hop. And MisEd had more singing then rapping... i forgot the breakdown but I think 9/15 on MisEd were RnB tracks.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
I am not mad at all at Nasir. It is a good Nas album even if it falls short of great. Only thing I was disappointed with is I feel some aspects of the roll out were mishandled.

Still, I am interested in hearing the album he was working on before the 7 song album he just dropped.
How does this work? Doesn’t Def Jam have some claim to the music that was created during this period? I’m sure it depends on the terms of the contract but I’m realizing I have no idea how music/recording contracts work.

My main issue on the NASIR album is that....there's not many quoteables from Nas on the album lyrically....it's cool but not many lyrics stand out for me :yeshrug:
  • Escobar Season Begins...
  • ___ ___ ____, that's true - ____ ___ ___ ____ also true (meme shyt)
  • Like a heart physician who dies from a heart attack
  • I don't wanna hurt nobody, We just came here to party
  • How many girls pre-bate right before they date, So she can have restraint? She still get slayed (bonjour)
  • You wealthy when your kid's upbringin' better than yours
  • When the media slings mud, we use it to build huts
  • People do anything to be involved in everything, Inclusion is a hell of a drug
  • Some people have everything they probably ever wanted in life, And never have enough
  • The child's introduction to suffering and pain, Understands without words, nothin' is explained, a rush to the brain
  • My first house, 11,000-square-feet mansion, It was a haunted by dead rich whites, Mad a nikka bought his crib to hang up pictures of black Christ :mjlol:
  • The ghosts of gangsters dance, Chinchillas shake on the hanger, the force of this banger
  • Before I had a piece of paper, peace was in my favor:ohhh:
  • They ain't stopped printin' money, 'cause they made mine
  • I'm lookin' in Longevity's eyes, I play with Infinity's mind, Forever's my guy
  • Never sold a record for the beat, it's my verses they purchase, Without production I'm worthless
  • But I'm more than the surface, Want me to sound like every song on the Top 40, I'm not for you, you not for me, you bore me
  • Look at my album plaques, somebody agrees with the music
  • Hate to brag, my worst batch kills off your best cutie:shaq:
