I like Trevante Rhodes a lot. I also like Kaluuya, Aldis Hodge, and Yahya would be great but he's in DC. Damson Idris (Snowfall actor) is a good choice too.

Did Marvel already knew about this???
They had to know he had cancer. However, did they know he would die 4 years after Civil War or 2 years after Infinity War?

Obviously not, otherwise they'd have sped up production and shot additional scenes with him for an inevitable tribute... like they did during Stan Lee's last months.

By the time Chad's condition suddenly deteriorated, dates had already been set for 2022 and the actors/directors all had their own projects lined up, including Chad.

Trevante, Aldis and John David (in no order) are my top 3 actors.

Wasn’t BP supposed to be in the Doctor Strange Multiverse film? The explanation for why T’Challa isn’t BP anymore could be resolved there.

I forgot about Trevante.

DC been circling him for like 3 years with the John Stewart role... but fukk all that, if Marvel can snag him for BP that'd be a great look.

I bring up Denzel's son mainly bc Marvel has gone with some acclaimed actors/actresses for their 3 non-white male leads (Chad, Brie, Mahershala), so I figure Tenet would be the icing on the cake for JDW if he's stellar in it. The recency-bias edge.

Really gotta wonder just how much this impacts Ryan's script if they dont use T'Challa. Also werent they supposed to start filming early next year?

If they are keeping T'Challa the actor really wont have a lot of time. You gotta get somebody already in shape. Trevante is a solid option as well.

Boseman said how he had to train and learn so many different moves in prep for the movies.

Oh it greatly impacts. They spent the past year penning a script for a 300 million budget movie centered on an iconic character who is now "dead".

The simple solution is a recast to keep the character alive, and keep the script as is... but they can't bullshyt the replacement selection.

Trevante might be too short.....not sure

Trevante is listed at 6'0

So he's Chadwick's height + 13 years younger.

If he can grow the beard + fro and give an accent... he might be the best available combination of all spectrums.

He's known from moonlight and bird box, he's got the look and physicality.. but what do yall say about his acting chops?

Imo...if people are ok with Aldis then you should be ok with Trevante. To me their range isnt the greatest, but they have the intensity for the part. Trevante is still really talented and is due a breakout part.

My point earlier is that Boseman did so much without saying anything. Its why I made the basketball comparison earlier. He's was like a scorer...who doesnt need the ball. His facial expressions and eyes did a lot of work for the character.

Thats why I asked how much this impacts the script. Because we are going to have to LIKE this new T'Challa. The work was already done with Boseman in Civil War.
