o want to root for him since he’s from the town, but his acting was so bad to me in aquaman and his episode of black mirror was too distracting for me to get a real read on him. I’d have to see him in another key role before I felt like he’d be a good pick up cuz like I said, him in aquaman was awful

Edit: forgot he was in the get down, he was devemt in that
oh no doubt he was bad in Aquaman although recent performances make me think that was more of a director issue.

Dani Gurira is my pick if the mantle is passed to a woman. I don't know about star power like Lupita, but she stole every scene she was in in the first movie and her action scenes look believable. And dope. You actually believe she'd kick people's. asses

Okoye makes the most sense because the MCU wouldnt have to move anything around to stay close to their original plans. And Okoye was already basically running wakanda and acting as an Avenger while T'Challa was snapped away.

Killmonger returning as BP adds alot of layers to that mantle. Brings alot whole new dynamic and edge to being an avenger. The big problem is bringing people back from the dead in movies makes peoples eyes roll. Maybe they say when he said to leave him in the ocean Namor found him.

Nakia (Lupita) is a good choice because her character being more a spy would already have knowledge of alot of what goes on. And she has star power.

But yeah okoye makes the most sense to me too.

Shamiek Moore could be interesting as well. He seems so short in his movies tho but his bio says he’s 5’10 (probably a lie lol)
Very talented actor, but nah doesnt have the physicality.. Would be a joke seeing him follow after Boseman.
Tenet will be interesting.

Because John David Washington, despite appearing like a borderline midget at 5'9 (compared to Boseman's 6 foot), definitely has the *look*

...but i didn't watch Black KKKlansman so i've only ever seen him act in "Ballers" years ago. Meaning, i don't know how well his acting chops are...

And of course, to be fair, RDJ was only 5'9 as well... but obviously he didn't have the same requirements of being an imposing MMA warrior king outside of the suit.
The fear with someone like JDW..who is talented and athletic...is they lean more into the Spiderman/Iron Man...making him CGI heavy. We saw that already with BP.

If they do replace chad I like aldis. It’s a tough position to be in and honestly a lose lose situation for the franchise. Chads legacy has to be respected
I keep mentioning Sterling cause I know they were friends and he's really talented as well. I'm warming up to the idea of Aldis if they go that route tho.

Is completing T'Challa's arc honoring his legacy or would it be best to retire the character. Ryan has such a difficult decision.

marveL is gonna use the multiverse to bring in a new T’Challa without having to replace “Chadwicks version”

don’t like it but it’s the only route that works without angering the mass. Some won’t like it, but the BP property is too profitable for them not to have a T’Challa
That would be a smart and clever way to get around a straight up recasting. Unlike Bruce and Rhodey you can’t just switch up T’Challa and expect people to accept it.

Surprised nobody mentioned M'baku honestly.

They can still do stories set in Wakanda with the BP mantel being passed on to Shuri, or M'Baku, or Nakia, or Eric, depending on what kind of story they want to tell. But respecting the memory/legacy of T'Chala/Chadwick needs to be front and center of any story they decide to do. I'd boycott if they ever even thought of recasting T'Challa.

Isn't Shuri the black panther in the comics? Just keep it as that.

Not sure what you mean by doesnt have the physicality, unless you’re talking height, but he’s done acrobatic things, especially in his Kung fu fantasies in the get down and his body is already on point and would be easy to take to the next level if he needed to bulk for the BP role

Chad wouldn't want this franchise held up just because of his health. Im sure he had discussions with Feige and Coogler just in case the worst came to pass. This character means too much just to retire. If there can be multiple Supermans, Batmans, and Jokers, there can be more BPs.

In the event that they choose to recast, I would suggest
  • Aldis Hodge
  • Y'Lan Noel
  • Or an unknown actor
