It's crazy because her MCU look is a realistic take on Stillfreeze's design, so i had been hoping they'd have her a blank slate, as they were exploring her in the comics. Then MCU Shuri drops, and...her she is in the 616. I dropped it after issue 11. Did she keep her new powerset, or is she still just Riri light? BTW, I loved Eve Ewing's characterization of her in Ironheart. She kept her hot-headed, brash personality.

How to even break down this ongoing enigma with Shuri without sounding abrasive...
There's a vocal minority of people who will always want and need Shuri to be BP... (maybe dike black girls, idk) because BP's love interest being a black woman is not enough, his body guard and 2nd best warrior in his country being a black woman not enough, his black sister simply being the smartest human in the world... nope, not enough.They need to have the number 1 headband. I get it, so i ain't mad. But fuuuuuuuck that.
As you said, Shuri's problem in the comics is that her entire plot point was being under her brother's shadow. At the time, everybody loved T'Challa, Wakandan children thought he was a god, even Panther god Bast told T'Challa "Out of all the BP's ever, you my nygga. I don't really fukk with your sister tho". Literally said that. So Shuri's problem in and out of comics on some meta shyt is that her more popular brother is always more popular, but her existence is to replace him.
So Coogler had a solution for that: he made her a nerdy millennial who can't fight (no contention for the throne) doesn't want to be BP (no contention for the throne) and prefers being in the lab with her Reed Richards genius that Coogler gifted her as a consolation prize. And yet, that vocal minority still wants her to contend for the throne despite Coogler revamping the character for the sole purpose of creating a co-existence where the siblings compliment each other as oppose to being in each other's way.

Even if taking it at face value, it would be AFTER Avengers 5. That's not scheduled to be released for at least 4 years. Boseman is 42 so he would be 46 for Avengers 5.
Then it will be a matter of does he even want to keep doing it.
Chris Evans is 38 and he bowed out. Chris Hemsworth is 36.
Shuri will have a more prominent role in the MCU, but she can't carry a movie as BP.

Listen man, I love the internet. I grew up in the era before the internet, cell phones, social media, all that. Over all, I'd say I prefer things now.
However, the internet allows literally anyone to be the "news". Cats can pull some shyt directly out of their imagination, post it on their site, and it will 99.99% of the time gain traction. shyt is crazy. You need zero credentials to be in the press now. Especially in the field of entertainment.

It's like saying after Iron Man 2, that RDJ will eventually step down...... eventually.
BP made $700 million domestically. T'Challa has his won loyal following within #marvelset, so Feige wont be disturbing that revenue anytime soon.
Whenever BP goes, it will be a natural progression and transition. But I do think age will play a factor in the decision.

This is where “black don’t crack” will immensely help Boseman as he’ll stay looking younger than a lot of his white counterparts. The big issue with Bosemans age to me is if they cast the X-Men relatively young I can’t see a Storm & T’Challa relationship happening in the MCU.
