North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
hard to tell since the first one had a lot of rewatches which brought it to the 700m domestic total
I know someone who saw this in theaters 8 times :dead:
without that rewatch factor it performs like a normal marvel sequel but like 20% higher because of the black panther brand
That’s with any movie that does those numbers.

You don’t get to $500 million and up without word of mouth and people rewatching it.

It’s going to eat during the thanksgiving weekend as well. I don’t think they are factoring in that.

I hate that Top Gun was hijacked by MAGA chuds. It's funny because Tom Cruise is and represents the pro-vax, crazy liberal Hollywood they claim they despise.

That opening weekend is also a holiday as well.
When I was looking for Thursday opening ticket, I saw one location that had over 20+ playing times for one format which I've never seen.

Yep, I saw the first movie 6 times at the cinema. That's probably the only movie I've seen that many times paying $50 a pop each time as I was taking dates along as well and getting premium seats.

This one I can see a healthy opening but a big second week drop.

It's not doing BP1 numbers, we can forget about that right now. NWH sold itself on nostalgia as the actual movie was not at all that good.

The last few MCU movies have had not the rewatchability of earlier phases. Things feel more sloppy. I sadly don't see this movie bucking that trend.

I don’t think Namor is the real villain in this.

They been promoting the character too hard

With Gor, there was promo because it was Bale playing the character. I can’t think of another “villain” besides Thanos that got this much promo.

Also speaks to why they kept it to only one official trailer.

I mean why else do you think Namor's arch villain is in this movie? :mjlol:

That character is there to be the real villain and take the heat off Namor's actions. Because Namor flooding Wakanda and being allowed to live at the end is dumb, so they'll have it that the character was manipulated by the real villain under false pretenses or something similar. Which we just saw that in Doc Strange 2 where everything Wanda did was blamed on a book.

This is why versus stories between heroes are a waste of time.

Because either it's not that serious and one party is reluctant to fight or there's a third party manipulating everything so the heroes can make up at the end/turn back good.

Witht the news this morning that Harrison Ford is being cast as Thunderbolt Ross taking over for William Hurt who died a few months ago. It shows Marvel can recast when they want.

I always said when one of these white actors dies they will recast. I feel Feige knows he fukked up on not insisting on a break on BP2 whilst they realistically looked at all the options moving forward. And put emotions aside. Considering how important T'Challa is to the franchise.

I'm sorry to say the BP team kinda played themselves if this film is not up to par, I wonder what the excuses will be?

They could have made a film not up to par with T'Challa to.
