For someone who do not care about Tchalla as a character... :manny:

I think Marvel did the best choice. Tchalla never was interesting like that to me, in the movies or in the comics.

I remember people saying that Killmonger was a much more interesting character and that Tchalla was pretty transparent (or a straight sellout).

They needed the right actor, character and characterisation.

Young T'chaka was a compelling Black Panther in the < 10 mins that he was on screen.

CB (on reflection) did a good job, at the end of the day BUT the BP franchise needs a strong lead and at the moment they don't have one. Not even Killmonger. Ayo is probably the strongest acting personality that they have at the mo IMO.

Maybe they focus on Altantis / Wakanda for this movie (much as how IW had thanos as protagonist) and let this movie end with the act that removes the T'Challa character. Then MCU TV+ films until BP3 gives them time to introduce a new character who will later grow into that role (if not position).

Maybe they could tie it in with the multiverse of madness stuff. Maybe the Atlanteans could be to blame.

To allow for an empty throne maybe Wakanda could undergo a civil war (in addition to the problems with Atlantis).

Why wouldn’t it
Like I said, it’s not like majority of the black casts of marvels universe are all lightskin

:dwillhuh:

Because dude is clearly bi-racial.

You can't re-cast T'challa as bi-racial. Nor can you (or should you) have a bi-racial foreigner become his replacement.

Namor or Doom killing T'challa makes them damn near irredeemable IMO, but if T'challa has to die ( right after coming back to life from the snap I mind you) that kinda has to be the way forward. If they are going to do Kasper that could be a way to get Bucky involved in the storyline. But out of all current characters Okoye makes the most sense to take the mantle.

Did you see me say Namor should be responsible? Serious quesion.

I had to double check and I am still not sure.

What is your opinion on Daniel Kaluuya's WKabi taking the mantle?

It'd seem like a pretty straightforward redemption story, especially with the fact that he was TChalla's childhood friend.

No not at all.

But people who campaign for T'challa to die in the movie means we gotta flesh out how we get there. Being at war with Atlantis and losing the king in the process seems like the most logical way to go about it.

If John Walker got death threats...:russ:

acting wise sure.

star wise (i.e. persona, charisma and personality projection) - no.

physically - no.

dude being relatively short and un-athletic is going to hold him back in Hollywood. he is going to find it hard to get hero/leading man roles.

he'll be a slightly less sidelined but a similar case to jeffrey wright. (and yeah I know about tom cruise but he is an exception).

if lance was younger

or adewale akinnuoye-agbaje

to be honest there aren't many people to pick from and for that I blame Hollywood and i blame the MCU.

accidents happen. or it could be a bad Atlantean .. someone who caused the war in the first place.

example:

namor is 2nd in line to the throne. the king sends a squad to steal vibranium led by his favourite son 1st in line to the throne. during the theft something accidental happens to BP.

by the end of the movie 1st in line is dead. king is dethroned.

I think Shuri or Nakia is gonna be the next Black Panther. It makes the most sense imo as far as what Marvel is doing for this phase. Thor is gonna be a girl, same with IronMan/Woman, Captain Marvel is already the strongest hero. Looks like Scarlett Witch is gonna have a huge role as well. It makes sense that Black Panther is a female. It wouldn't surprise me if the Avengers becomes an all female team. shyt look at the Eternals and how many male characters in the comics are now female in the movie.

People making this more difficult than it needs to be. Make Killmonger the new Black Panther, have him go by N'Jadaka going forward and spend the rest of the series with him atoning for his past sins. You can say T'Challa kept him alive, and that while he was recuperating he was stuck in a haze between life and death and was with his father. And after waking up, with the war popping off with Namor and Atlantis, sh*t got so hot there was no choice except letting him help. To keep it all the way 100%, you can have the Wakandas not accept him as King but, accept him begrudgingly as a fighter, with Shuri becoming Queen instead. If Jamie Lannister can fukk his own sister, and push kids off a roof and still be redeemed, they can figure out how to write a redemption arc for MBJ.

These scenes for example. Breh went from being the worst azzhole in Westeros to making you :mjcry:
