Multiple people have played Batman, Joker, Spiderman, Superman and others. T’Challa/Black Panther isn’t any different. We all love and respect Chadwick. This character should be recast(best option) or an existing one should get the title of Black Panther. It’s for the culture.

Those are popular white characters tho. Nobody going to bat to that extent for a black male character.

Remember, the only reason he was in Civil War was because they couldn't secure the Sony deal for Spider-Man at the time and needed a backup option. And high ranking Marvel execs were deadset against a negro having a mcu movie to begin with until the Disney ceo stepped in and gave Feige free reign bc the lack of diversity was becoming more glaring.

The placement and production of the first bp movie (giving them the junior varsity cgi team) and barely being in Infinity War / End Game despite the black producer begging them to give T'Challa more screen time/not dust him... already lets you know the type of uphill battle the character had.

It's never about the best option, for them it's about the backup options.

Y’all think that Snow Fall guy would fit?

I noticed he’s been getting alot of publicity lately. Plus he’s already in an action movie (Netflix) with the new Capt. America (Mackie)

How is his acting?

A person who pretty much disappeared (to my surprise) is Trevante Rhodes. Disappeared for 3 years after being pretty active and building some popularity with Bird Box and Moonlight. Recent rumor/reveal was that he was who Zack Synder intended to cast as Green Lantern/John Stewart if his OG Justice League movie had gone as planned.

this week i'm on the "just make W'Kabi Black Panther" train. dude is a massive star now, take advantage. same things i've been saying about Lupita. they're too big for the small roles they had in BP1. Might as well make him the new BP, not anti-vax Shuri who is built like a twig and would be the 14th female lead in this phase, or big doofus Winston Duke. Make Kaluuya the new BP. T'Challa dies offscreen and it destroys him. We see some flashbacks of their friendship over the years, etc. hammer it home. He meets with the Queen, Shuri, the Dora Milage, etc and they all decide he should go through the trials to take up the mantle of BP.

... none of this will happen.

It should've been obvious this was the route they would go from the minute Coogler said he wasn't sure if he liked T'challa when he was working on BP1.

I'm over this franchise

It took a while for him to come around to the character and tbh, it showed in the first film. He also consulted with and is friends with Coates :mjpls: .

Anyway, There needs to be a singular superhero representation. Black Panther is the titular hero and is one person. Are they planning to team up Nakia, Okoye, M'Baku and Shuri and call them the Wakanda 4? Are they going to be the Guardians of the Galaxy except African? Man, it was so easy for them to recast and would have saved a lot of trouble. Feige is probably going to look back on the decision to not recast and regret it.

He betrayed T'Challa, but then again, it could be something of a redemption arc for him. Given Kaluuya just got his first Academy Award, it makes no sense to ditch the character and not bring him back in some way.

i'm still really hoping there some multiverse fukkkery going on and a T'Challa from another reality is brought in. They could do that and Feige statement about not recasting would still be true. He was talking about 616 T'Challa.

Those were all reboots though. As i said i'm fine with him being recast in a reboot. But the MCU doesn't reboot, it's whole claim to fame in continuity. One way around it that i would find acceptable is if they pulled an alternate universe T'challa from another dimension like in Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness or something. MCU is just doing what that recent Batwoman show did, just writing the white women out and having an entirely new character become Batwoman.
The Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney Batman recasts all took place in the same movie universe.

And Batwoman also recast Ruby Rose with some other skinny white lady to play the Kate Kane role alongside the new black lead.

yeah, but i (and many others) would take MBJ right now, and dude was the main villain. W'Kabi stopped his shyt, and you can easily show the impact T'Challa had on him in like 3 early scenes. We all love Loki and that fukkface has been evil since day 1.

The MCU has had several recasts already, though. And Marvel's multiverse is trash. They use the alternate timeline more than they do multiverse. People will accept a new person playing T'Challa.

People want more stories with T'Challa. Not a 1.5 movie arc. He's been BP in the comics for 50+ years, so people want at least 5 years out of him, and most wanting his 3 movies There's no reason to push that to the side...for what seems to be an ensemble 2nd film.

And CW has already recast Kate Kane.

I don't think MBJ Killmonger resonates with most of the audience though. He's been a straight villain, while Loki had charm and never really did what Killmonger did...plus he was used as comedic relief. They'd never give Loki a franchise.

i mean, he's basically got one. they're already talking multiple seasons of his show, which are essentially movies. no one would have guessed Loki would be around more than a decade when we first saw him

Yes, i hated those too. Rhodey is boring now, nobody cares about him anymore. Cheadle brings nothing to the role and no we're stuck with him. If he hadn't been recast they might've been able to renegotiate with Terrance Howard down the road after the MCU blew up. During Ironman 2 they still were being cheap with everyone.
Hulk's Character was also ruined with recasting. Dude seems more like a stoner then a scientist. All the angst about getting mad is nonexistent. Character been trash since the first avengers movie,
All the batman recasts' that dude mentioned were progressively shyttier and shyttier. as were their movies terrible way to sell me on recasting black panther.
Name one case where a character people liked was recast, (within continuity) and people liked the new actor too.

Spartacus, similar circumstances too.

Andy died of cancer, Liam stepped in and made the role his own without being a 'replacement. A recast over money or creative differences is different than recasting an actor who died.
