Spartacus, similar circumstances too.

Andy died of cancer, Liam stepped in and made the role his own without being a 'replacement. A recast over money or creative differences is different than recasting an actor who died.
Yes, i'm familiar with that series. The show was called Spartacus though, not Gladiator. You can make Black Panther without T'Challa. You can't make Spartacus without Spartacus. They could do like Spartacus did and make a prequel movie starring T'Chaka as Black Panther.

Also i should point out, that recasting didn't work in this case either. People hated the new actor and cancelled the series after his second season on the show.

According to the director they were at a ratings peak when the show went off the air. Given the option to try and milk the historical account of Spartacus which would have taken the plot all over the place, they decided to go out on top. That wasn't on Liam and lots of people felt like he grew into the role and did great under the circumstances.

That's akin to tryin to fill the void for a Superman movie with a prequel about Jor-el or some shyt. As cool/interesting as it might be, nobody wants a super dad, super boy, super cousin movie as much as they want the actual character the property is known for and built around.

Like that's the BEST alternative to just recasting I've heard. Everything else is on some, Killmonger byke! or T'challa get's killed off screen or even worse bodied by Doom and Shuri all of a sudden becomes more suited for the position than one of the Dora's.

That sounds like a drag to me.

I don’t get it. So he wants his brother recast? He also was king for like three or so movies overall. Plus we just got a black captain america

A black man being America’s mascot isn’t the same as a Black man being the king of the most powerful nation on the planet. Recasting is the right choice but Disney is lowkey racist and didn’t like the success that the 1st BP movie had so they’re using Chadwick’s death as a excuse not to recast.

For someone who do not care about Tchalla as a character... :manny:

I think Marvel did the best choice. Tchalla never was interesting like that to me, in the movies or in the comics.

I remember people saying that Killmonger was a much more interesting character and that Tchalla was pretty transparent (or a straight sellout).

That doesn’t make sense in the slightest tbh. What does the success of black panther have against them recasting T’challa?
It definitely will be another black panther and they will be black so how is that racist?

:mjlol: see? and you one of the folks arguing to recast. You don't approve of this light skinned bloke?

Uhhh no I don't.

And I'm still arguing for a re-cast because he's rumored to be playing Kasper Cole, not T'challa.

I mean. The only lightskin people in mcu was Terrance Howard who was recast as Don Cheadle and Tessa thompson

Butterscotch Panther

:russ:

nikka please. That should go over just fine.

Why wouldn’t it
Like I said, it’s not like majority of the black casts of marvels universe are all lightskin

The MCU has had several recasts already, though. And Marvel's multiverse is trash. They use the alternate timeline more than they do multiverse. People will accept a new person playing T'Challa.

They are the same thing ..

Maybe Marvel should have done a physics primer BEFORE releasing these movies. I thought they (Hulk / TAO) had explained it but clearly not.
