It's annoying that in 2020 we still doing race-bent character castings for the known black actors, when there's still notable black superheroes still collecting dust on the shelf.

Mr Terrific, John Stewart, Icon, Blue Marvel, Dr Voodoo, Cloak, Nigh Thrasher..
hawkman had an egyptian backstory right?

I just also realized though that they'll have a black character with wings like falcon

There's several origins but the common one is he's some white guy archaeologist who learns he's a reincarnation of an Egyptian prince, so technically yea.

Another backstory is they straight up aliens from "thanagar" in which hawkman was a cop there (not a human nor archaeologist). Writers been tried to mesh both back stories.

Personally I'd have them reveal that they'd been keeping Killmonger in a medically-induced coma after BP, and when the snap happened, that nikka disappeared right along with everyone else. When everyone came back, he awakens to a world 5 years afterwards, and a Wakanda that went 5 years without their king. Have the first act be a tragic bit about T'Challa being taken out in some underhanded means by Namor - hell, have a good bit of the population of Wakanda get wiped out and T'Challa passes saving his citizenry. Really sell it.
Part of Killmonger's whole beef with T'Challa was about how Wakanda should have been run, so... in a way, this would be his chance to prove it. Especially in a world that just experienced everything Thanos did.
I'm not saying Michael B. Jordan is the BP we deserve or even necessarily want, but it'd be a more organic transition, and would allow the character of T'Challa to get hung in the rafters for Chadwick's sake and still give that same energy for little black kids to see a hero. Doubly-so if you use this as a means to have BP more active in things - Killmonger seems the type to maybe establish a tense relationship with Shield, and he's also a good opportunity to tell a redemption story about people paying their debts for their wrongdoing and coming out a changed person - run a lowkey allegory to changing your life after prison.

I dunno. They gonna do whatever, but it's an infinitely better idea than running with Shuri, regardless of the source material doing so. The actress isn't right, but moreover; Disney would do that and consider two diversity boxes ticked, and fukk all that, I'm tryna get a Spectrum/Monica Rambeau property out them bytches so the black girls have someone to look up to.

But they'll probably go 'Sam Wilson has the shield now; we filled our quota for you people' because it's still Disney and Disney ain't been known for going deeper than token diversity given the option.

Yall just cant get over Killmonger huh lol
admittedly I could give a shyt less about Michael B Jordan, but I definitely think I'd rather they used a new BP than re-cast Chadwick. And bringing in someone completely new for that purpose fails in most cases even when the original actor hasn't passed. Just trying to logic up a way to work around those two things.
Admittedly, I also would not be overwhelmingly against M'Baku taking over either :yeshrug:

But if we gotta re-cast... someone get Lakeith on the Marvel Workout Plan. I'd watch a Lakeith Stanfield as Black Panther movie :hubie:

Some of you are being ridiculous if you think Disney is going to pack the Black Panther character away and never use him again.

BP 2 wasn't even scheduled to start filming until March of next year so they will probably put the brakes on that and push it out another year or 2 depending on COVID but when they do announce a new production schedule it will likely be around the same time they announce the new actor they have cast in the role of T'Challa.

This. These productions are planned years in advance. Locations already booked, crews already contracted. Coogler already did a script and Janelle Monae may already be cast as Storm.

They are not making major changes. They are more likely to recast.

He turned on us in the first movie. Hell no.:pachaha:
Seem he reconciled with Okoye at the end and shyt was squashed. Compare that to Killmonger people are advocating for. He killed multiple Wakandans and people acting like he could come back as king and it would be all good. lol

Why do you keep acting like they can't do the same stories with Shuri?
Because the cultural significance of a black male hero was bigger than the storyline itself.

black panther was significant for giving black boys a hero as well as building a world of black excellence that black people of all ages and genders could be proud of. Yes, Boseman played tchalla well, but he wasn’t bigger than what the entirety of black panther brought to the screen - that’s why he wanted to be part of it.
