Making Killmonger the Black Panther could have been its own movie and they fumbled that imo. The time Killmonger ruled over Wakanda felt like a couple days. Id be fine with Shuri as BP, but id go into the movie accepting that they are taking a step BACK and for story telling purposes would have to give her her first BIG challenge in the second BP film, which just slows everything down. Recast the role, Killmonger, and Shuri would all work. it just depends on what you are willing to sacrifice.

Killmonger would be the most fun for me, because he may not be inherently "good" all the time.... So we would get to watch someone morally grow in order to meet the standard of BP while still being somewhat of a savage.
I wish they just did a Disney + series of him "becoming Killmonger"

Seeing him and Klaw put in work. Seeing how it was part of a long con/game for him. Also get flashbacks of his father.

Shuri would have to go Gal Gadot levels of weight training to look like a warrior.

Also to @Primetime 's point....we not only get more of the same but lose something with no T'Challa.

We get another quippy/inherently funny hero. I liked how Boseman was went against the norm. It actually allows for other characters to shine while Boseman helps ground the movie.

I do think they should have/need to make T'Challa more dynamic. However, his personality was perfect.

The bolded is my viewpoint to a T.

I don't care much for "long time comic fans" but i'll say this: 90% of those advocating that MCU Shuri take the mantle, never read the comics and never fukked with T'Challa to begin with. Because they were trying to get him up outta there even when Chad was alive.

Monica Rambeau is a bigger deal than Shuri among long time comic fans, yet not a peep about how they neutered her into a 12-year old Carol fangirl. The agenda been clear and i don't think it's the comic fans.
i'm glad you said it, because the way i saw it from jump after the reception of this movie was there were never going to shoot bp2 movie with chad in it, this movie inspired a lot of people in a lot of ways and the shot callers in hollywood hated that

I'm feeling more and more Nakia is the answer. Lupita has a similar regal persona and comes off more serious than humorous. Plus body wise she would be better than Letitia. Plus she's actually African which is even better.

Like I mentioned earlier I remember a lot of people thought Lupita was playing Shuri when she first signed up.

They need fan boys for the buzz. That's why birds of prey flopped
Birds of Prey flopped b/c it was a movie made specifically for fat white girls who had a goth phase. Black Panther 2 has zero chance of being a flop no matter what they do. save them casting Michael Cera as T'Challa... and even then, we'd all flock out of morbid curiosity.

-Not feeling Shuri or Nakia, too soon for their characters. Neither of them give of leadership.

-I feel they gonna have to recast cause I personally don't see this franchise working without T'Challa.
-If not make M'Baku seek leadership & with no heart shaped herb he does his white gorilla ritual to get his power. Don't make him Panther, make him Man-Ape. Upset about revealing themselves & technology & whatever.
-Eventually Bast determines Wakanda needs a Panther again & produces a new herb garden for the new hero.

Yep there is no way in hell this will flop. It's guaranteed to be there most profitable film (w/ Avengers 5) in the upcoming years. But if its done in a distasteful way it will have irreversible damage to the brand. I trust Marvel but they have to get this sequel right.

don't even think that's the case tbh. Marvel is such a well oiled machine and this was such a phenom, even if they royally fukk it up (pun intended?) they can always just say they are "soft rebooting" Black Panther 3.

True, and now that I think about it more I don't think its in Feige and Coogler's repertoire to actually put out a "royal fukk up". I also don't think the trades will review bomb the movie regardless.

I think avoiding setting up a Black vs white Captain Marvel situation is a smart move. Do we want that? I don't.
You missed the point breh. Point is "comic fans" would be clamoring more for that shyt than they would Shuri as BP (which Marvel also smartly avoided)... but comic fans aren't advocating for either.

The ones pushing for Shuri aren't comic fans. They just see an opportunity to get TChalla up outta there

The movie set up Nakia as the most heroic from the opening (modern day) scene infiltrating the human traffickers, on to the end scene where T'Challa asked her to stay bc he now believes in her perspective.

She's literally the moral compass, while everyone had to catch up.

Based on movie 1, being queen is her trajectory and upon that she would be the most logical choice as BP.

The other logical choice is M'Baku. It's like nyggas didn't watch the movie.

for real though, they have to and will focus extra hard on this one now. I was really looking forward to BP2 b/c they got all the Wakanda stuff out of the way. I really thought it was gonna make T'Challa one of the GOATs b/c all the "I'm a conflicted king! What do i do?!" stuff was in the past an we can move on. That was most of the stuff (besides some shoddy cgi) that i had enough of in the first one. They could just go balls to the wall now. Sucks, but i trust them. RIP Boseman.

I think the OG cast will be inspired to give a great performance as well and the movie will definitely be dedicated to Boseman
