No rookie is even in the same vicinity as Luka at the moment. Dude is 19 years old, looking like a vet out there.

Man was the Euroleague MVP at 18 going on 19 (maybe he was already 19)...playing against grown ass men in the most physical basketball league in the world, running the entire team...

Anybody that thought he was gonna come to the NBA, a wide open, free flowing, soft ass league, NBA is even less physical with a higher pace than the NCAA...and thought he was gonna be trash was tripping...

Saw him in person for the first time tonight.

He's savvy as shyt. He has all the old man stuff, the head fake, the Rondo fake pass, the show + go AND he's more athletic than he looks. He can get to his spots and he's strong enough to finish though mild contact.

If he comes back next yr 5-10ish pounds lighter, quicker, and stronger he's an all star.

Dirk's presence could be huge for him. His low post game is flashy but not yet reliable enough to be a 1st option. If he becomes even 50% of what Dirk was in the high post he's a 28-7-5 player easily.

EDIT: Spelling

In Europe he was 225 to 228...

He looks about 235 now
He was having trouble getting past Paul George/Jerami Grant using just his first step and kept going to the behind the back dribble. He has the moves to get to his spot but he has to work too hard for it imo.

If he can slim down to a lean 220-225 and start to blow past guys so that they have to sag off him he'll be a monster.

I think since he didn't have a break because he was coming over to the NBA...he didn't do shyt this summer and is trying to play himself into shape.

I don't think he is ever gonna be able to get by people on the first step in the NBA, he could never get by NBA caliber athletes back in Europe on his first step when he lighter.

I'll think he'll be a Paul Pierce/James Harden type scorer...

He is 6'7-6'8, strong, can take hits and push people out the way.

He got strong ball handling for a guy his size...

If he slims back down and gets his grown man strength, get some tricks in order to draw fouls, he'll get by guys just off the threat of his dribble.

He is already an expert pick and roll player

I don't necessarily mean Jordan/Kobe/Westbrook style blow by but somebody like Wes Matthews for example isn't that quick BUT can get to the rim if you don't give him space.

Luka is such a good finisher already that if he can even get those Wes Matthews looks he's averaging 25.

And yes he runs the pick and roll very well. He also did a great job tonight of fighting to get open to give his bigs clean passing angles. He can ball.

Ignore ayton putting up 16 and 10 brehs

True. Ayton shot is busted right now tho. That nets game the other night Allen was leaving him wide open daring him to shoot. His defense is pretty bad too. I think 5’s are shooting like 70% at the rim against him. Plus Ayton and Canaan defending the pnr is comedic on every level

True...he struggles to beat defenders in the half-court even if he got space...

Players do beat him to his spot a lot off he dribble...he got all types of gathers and pushoffs and footwork to finish...

I think that is concerning though...

He takes wide steps when he should take short and choppy steps to explode on his drives sometimes...

When he gets a full head of steam, he blows by people though...

I think he'll come back next year more athletic...

People thought Jabari Parker wasn't gonna be athletic and he had one summer and he was flying around like Blake fukking Griffin and he still out here yamming on dudes with like 100 knee surgeries...

I don't think he'll be doing all that, but I think his athleticism will increase...
