He probably leads the team in turnovers and is swiss cheese on defense.

Plays designed to make the pass to get an assist isn't the same as creating an assist.

He shoots a lot of 3, gets a lot of open looks and is a good shooter. So far when he's isolated he's taking step back 3's. Hasn't shown the ability to take anybody to to the cup and he has no left hand. He takes contested jumpers and isn't good at finishing in the paint for his size. He gets stuck between a floater and an oop to deandre in the pick and roll too often.
Ive been saying this since dwill vs cp3 arguments

Lebron jacked that swag too

You haven’t watched any live footage. You live on highlights and box scores. Trae Young is clearly getting better, clearly getting to any spot he wants, and clearly getting guys great looks. His shooting will improve as will his overall impact once he gets stronger.

Doncic, On the other hand has been average to garbage after that “hot” start. Atlanta won on this deal as far as star power, box office, and the future is concerned. Trae Young’s teammates love him, Doncic’s teammates hate him.

Funny how Doncic can have 18 and 6 taking 15 shots and he’s the next big superstar, while Trae can have 24 and 15 assists and everyone acts like they didn’t see it :pachaha:

Trae is a rookie and the clear focal point of his team’s offense. Doncic is just another guy who handles the ball on the Mavericks. NO ONE in the league game plans to keep the ball out of his hands :mjlol:
we hid defenders on him all night :dahell: you can't look at tonight's game and say that trae is even clearly better than jeremy lin

nobody cares about those big games from trae because they either come against the cavs or when no one is bothering to guard him compared to ATLs more efficient scorers

Bruh you can’t be serious with this shyt.

So you mean to tell me Young will improve but Luka won’t?

:dwillhuh:

He’s been “average to garbage”? The fukk are you watching?

:what:

You stuck on the narrative that Luka’s teammates hate him?

:merchant:

He’s just player that handles the rock but yet offenses flows better when he’s doing so?

:mindblown:

:mjlol:

Seems like only nikkas in this thread thinks Luka is a bum. As of now both teams are winning. This trade got some of y’all fukked up in the head. That or y’all don’t know basketball for shyt.

the ether
Been saying it for a minute but he only gets buckets with regularity when teams just don't focus on him like that. After a few bad possessions we just switched Zeller on to him :dead: as soon as he started hitting shots again we put Kemba back on him and that was the last anyone seen of him for the rest of the night

I don't even think he's a great/bad passer. Somewhere in between. Defenses are just so bent on gambling on everything he does that all of his plays are extremely erratic. Really hard to judge that in particular.
In some ways Trae's start is reminding me of Ball's start last year. Ball would hit a few shots against trash teams or when absolutely no one was paying attention to him at all, then get shut down the second defenders started covering him again.

Trae "Steve Nash" Young is now shooting 27% from 3.

Pretty terrible considering all this Steve Nash/Steph Curry talk.

You can't be this terrible at the thing that got you all the hype

This is like if Yao Ming showed up from China being 6'9 barefoot.

His elite 3 point shooting is ocean front property in Iowa

Trae's averaging over 5 turnovers a game over his last five games, and is shooting around 30 FG% on jumpshots this season (under 40% eFG%). Only a 12-game sample size, but he's really struggling out there; only seems to score when there are breakdowns in the defense or during dead parts of the game.

Or garbage time.
He talented af tho it ain't no denying that, I just dont see the Steph ceiling with him. And I like his game alot.
His absolute ceiling to me is in the Tim Hardaway/Kevin Johnson tier.
His floor, Jameer Nelson.

Right now, he is struggling with the constant doubles and then he jacks bad shots. The biggest issue is no one can seem to score an easy basket. I can't wait till Collins is back and we can just PnR to death.
