So now that the show is finished should I pick this back up? I stopped after the fourth episode because
of the stupid shock kill of the siren after they did all that shyt in the museum to rescue it.
Does it get better and end strong?

Not so sure there's gonna be a season 2 :lupe:
To be honest. I’m not sure this Misha Green lady has the chops to run a show as headwriter.

The plotting of this series was sloppy. She’s talking about bringing in more races but her handling of Yahima and any non-female character was really bad.

Where are you getting a good vs evil story?

Christina never had any ambition to harm anyone else for any reason except gaining immortality. She didn't even really want to bust up the Ardam frat except for the fact they kept her out.

That's like saying the bad guy never hurt anyone, except as part of their evil plot. In LotR, we never saw Sauron have any ambition to harm anyone, except for standing in the way of getting the Ring.

Anyway, what about poor Ruby? She was basically killed for disloyalty.

Looking back...I'm disappointed in the plot holes. From the throat slit, to the big underground monsters, the purpose of the Korean chick...Uncle George talking as a ghost. What happened with Tic's parents. Why all the water? What happened in the future? Why did the hair turn blue? Scorn from Leti and Korean chick love triangle.
  • Montrose killed Yahima to keep Tic save from getting involved with Magic and those that were after it.
  • The shoggoths were just a tie in to H.P. Lovecraft and a way for the Sons of Adam to guard/hide their grounds.
  • Ji-Ah was added to give more background on Tic and his experiences during the Korean War which is also called the Hidden War because it looked over in American history.
  • It wasnt Uncle George's ghost but an alternate timeline/dimesion. He basically admitted to stopping Hippolyta from following her dreams/exercising her curiousity and going on guide trips. This was hinted in the first episode before Tic arrived.
  • Tic's mother died when he was young. I have to rewatch the finale. I think they (in the ancestral realm (burning house) mentioned how they were sacrificed for their family. I doubt they meant literally but who knows?
  • Why all the water? If you are talking about Episode 4, it was a Goonies/Indiana Jones reference and a way to tie in the atrocities of Christopher Columbus and other conquistadors.
  • In the future, Dee sees Tic arrive, gives him the Lovecraft Country book that his son, George Freeman wrote and sends him back to the present. Some people speculated that the white people rioting referred to something akin to Charlottesville, VA but that has yet to be confirmed.
  • Hippolyta's hair turned blue because she named herself Orinthia Blue, her daughter's comic book hero (inspired by Hippolyta the discoverer) basically a way to gain more will/resolve and intention to keep strong enough to keep the portal open for Tic, Montrose & Leti to return.
  • Leti was upset that Tic has unfinished business with his ex, she knew lil to nothing about. Tic downplayed it but was calling his ex from her house while she's pregnant with his child. & main point he didnt tell her that he knew he was going to die.

You know dang well that’s not the same. That’s like saying a guy robbing a bank is the same as the the Joker spraying laughing toxin on a whole city.

You just proved my point. Until Ruby got in the way of stopping her personal ascension, she had no problem with her. She let her come and go. She helped Dee’s condition when ask. The white woman spell.

She didn’t burn down the Ardham house to have immortality for herself or sabotage her father’s attempt.

She used Ruby and kept her close to spy on and get close to Tic. She helped Dee with the condition that Tic come to her willingly on the Autumnal Equinox. She gave Ruby the white woman potion in order to win Ruby over. And she deliberately sabotaged her father's plan by giving Tic the ring thus resulting in her father being killed and Ardham burning down lol. Christina was out for herself the whole time and used the people around her like pawns.

Thank you. There are definitely layers that could easily get overlooked. I'll have to read the literature to get more perspective for sure.

:ehh:Good list.
Made me bring up one question of my own:
What was the story with the "Black" Shoggoth? We saw that Shoggoths seemed to be somehow spawned from cows in some way, and that they spread like vampires via biting. If any of cops survived the initial Black Shoggoth attack, did they mutate into other Shoggoths?

You know dang well that’s not the same. That’s like saying a guy robbing a bank is the same as the the Joker spraying laughing toxin on a whole city.

She may not be "Chaotic Evil", but that doesn't make her not evil.

She used Ruby and kept her close to spy on and get close to Tic.
Tic and Ruby had two scenes together the entire series. That would make no sense.
She had Leti under her pocket with the money for the house to get the key.

She helped Dee with the condition that Tic come to her willingly on the Autumnal Equinox.

That's true.

She gave Ruby the white woman potion in order to win Ruby over.
But she didn't need to keep giving it to her only to ask her to spy on Lancaster.

And she deliberately sabotaged her father's plan by giving Tic the ring thus resulting in her father being killed and Ardham burning down lol. Christina was out for herself the whole time and used the people around her like pawns.

That's not why she gave him the ring.Look at the scene again. She knew he father's spell wasn't going to work. That was a protection spell(to keep him alive for her)She knew the house exploded the last time it happened and killed everyone. Tic's ancestor messed up the ceremony. When she appeared is when the spell started messing up.
