He's right there are articles citing rumors of reshoots specifically to replace Majors.

I did a quick Google to try to find reports of reshoots, and I did find some dating around mid-May, but they were all from unknown rumor sites with no sources to back it up. I'm more inclined to believe an actual head writer of the show, Eric Martin, who did an interview with a valid outlet like Variety, who said there were no reshoots, than some "trust me bro" sites who say otherwise.

The writers strike started at the beginning of May. They wouldn’t have been able to write or change the reshoots plus the show was originally supposed to come out in the summer 2023.

different flavours. 1st trip out set-up the world, moved slower, had a more character driven plot.
the sequel let it rip.
both very good and like aliens, would be less impactful without the other chapter.
