I was thinking that this might have been an alternate future set in the time of x1-3 where dofp never happened. So much is left up to interpretation.

What does it being a comicbook movie have to do with anything? Blade and spawn were comic book movie's too.I think thats the main difference here

People dying in comicbook movies is too much for an 8 year old? We acting like we didn't deal with people dying in the X men comics? Wolverine wasn't cutting people up and cursing them out in the comics?

Patrick Stewart spoke about possibly reprising his Xavier role down the line in a DeadPool movie, etc.. and Hugh spoke about lobbying for a different ending to Logan where his character didn't die, etc..
Ain't no way those dudes willingly staying away and/or FOX gonna tell them to. Especially with how easy it is to nerf shyt with time travel concepts. They might as well embrace the different timelines in their CU on some real comic book shyt.

Nothing killed the other mutants. They just used gene therapy to stop the x gene from forming in new mutants. Other mutants are fine minus the xmen dying "not like these bullshyt comic books"
Logan was just old and the adamantium was too much to handle. Its been in his body 50 years by this point his healing factor was bound to burn out at some time.
