which after time i thought about the good will. They lost in that as well. As i knee in the movie he was dreaming and knew he was killer her. Yet instead of the film festishing, the new Halle sabu, zazie beats. The fukm should have had the rwcter explore the male/female dynamic and inclusion of Harley Quinn. Instead the film tally misses the joker is a ladies man guy totally. it also totally misses the dynamic of change needed in dc films from cliche as well. Plus it missed tying ij the dark knight ledger joker easily. As you could have easily had the joker from dark knight be daddy mentioned by ichi the killer style ledgerjoker. Instead we get left batman 89. With nothing to move forward to. While they fukk up yet another batman franchise leafing to another inevitable stupid ass relaunch,...in sheer complete revenue grab fashion. People re treating this fikm under some indie film house semantics that died in thr rom com indie film nineties. totally forgetting this is the WB.

Yeah, this was incredible. Phoenix put on one hell of a performance. It was beautifully shot as grimy as New York/Gotham needed to be. The way mental illness is portrayed is certainly not to inspire it's speaking to the reality of what's going on and how poorly this country handles it.
Also, this had plenty of comic book elements to it ripped straight from the source material. Todd Phillips was kinda
on that... this is a great film but it does not try to not be a comic book movie... it happens to be a great film with some comic book elements.
The score was great.. loved the musical choices.. I don't have too many negatives on it at all. I can see why it's cleaning up at the box office right now and why so many people love it. Might be a damn classic.

Was he sharing a bed with his mother? It didn’t look like a two bedroom apartment, and there wasn’t blankets and pillows near the couch.
This pretty much summed it up for me. A couple of Wayne references, but other than that, they used the name recognition to get this film hyped.
Had it just been called Arthur, with the same plot and trailer, not set in Gotham, it wouldn’t have been as widely anticipated.
I told people at work that this movie really had nothing to do with Batman and it was more like those straight to dvd movies that don’t have anything to do with the original, minus one connecting thing. An example would be the American pie Gil’s or Hellraiser sequels.
I told them that this could have been easily about a guy name Arthur , trying to do stand-up and failing and ends up going crazy. Then the studio says “make it a joker origin” to make money off of it. Outside of Gotham and The Wayne family, this could easily be a good independent film that would have done typical Joaquin Phoenix numbers.
As for the movie itself, I say it’s a 7/10. It’s a good movie. I felt my chest hurting hearing his laugh. I could only imagine how much that hurt practicing and then using it during filming
I mean, how many comic book movies in existence have this detailed character review? A lot of people hate DC and WB and anything that aint MCU related just because......from this day forward, every single comic book movie WILL BE COMPARED TO "JOKER". Thats the reality of it.
If You dont like that, let Marvel make an R Rated Doom or a good Punisher film with the best directors and actors in Hollywood's existence.

There’s a few shots in the trailer I don’t remember seeing in the movie, namely the shot where Arthur tumbles down the steps at the Charlie Chaplin movie screening, and when he’s smiling looking up at the sky from a lower shot. I’m assuming the first was him getting kicked out and the second looked like a funeral shot, but it’s curious they didn’t make the final cut. I wonder if they got taken out to maybe add to the unreliable narrator narrative and have the viewer question if some of these events really happened.
