I had said in my previous posts that I was concerned after reading the script details of this film that they were essentially creating a movie with Joker by name(s) but not Joker as we know him in the comics, live-action, or animated films. I kept saying pay attention to the words of the people creating this film. Now you have the director saying the movie stands on it's own (already known), he couldn't see his Joker fighting anyone (implying Batman). All roads for the Joker leads to Batman, no matter how you swing it. This further strengthen my concerns that this is a movie not about Joker as we recognize him from the normal mediums but another film with DC characters thrown into it solely by name. It's not the Joker we've come to expect and the convenient excuse unwisely being propagated by fans is it's okay because it's a one off.
Would you be happier if he said "yeah, this version of Joker would be a great villain for Batman!"....Batman isn't in the movie and (as far as I know) there isn't going to be a sequel to this so it's a moot point.

Make yourself happier and leave this movie alone cause none of the decisions around it will make you happy.
Luckily for you you get Battinson in a few months to complain about not being your Batman.
