Yeah they had that excuse that Walder could kill Robb for being in rebellion of the crown, but Walder wasn't gonna kill that man with his entire army outside his gate.

Walder wouldn't have killed Robb, but he could've taken him hostage and easily held him hostage until the Lannister army showed up. Can't fault him for sending ma dukes, who's father Lord Frey had pledged loyalty to.

But @Ghostface Trillah can't act like Cat forced Robb into any marriage either. She presented Lord Frey's terms, Robb accepted them. Only Arya was forced into a marriages pact that day without her consent.

Most of those Lords in Westeros marry based on politics and Alliances. Got nothing to do with looks. Frey told Roose 'pick a girl and I'll give you her weight in gold'.
