Spoilers regarding characters missing from the next season of HBO's Game of Thrones below...
For the first time (that's not due to a big shocking death or someone simply heading off somewhere else) some major characters, who we've been following since the very first episodes of the series, won't be appearing on a season of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor on the series, recently spoke to Australia's 7.30 and revealed that he and co-star Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark, have a year off from the show.
MONIQUE SCHAFTER: Fans around the world are hungry for the next series of Game of Thrones, but they'll have to be patient.
KRISTIAN NAIRN: We're not actually in Season 5, by the way. We have a season off. We have a year's hiatus.
MONIQUE SCHAFTER: Really?
KRISTIAN NAIRN: Solely because, I imagine, our storyline is up to the end of the books. So I get a year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.
Hempstead-Wright and Nairn as Bran and Hodor.
Nothing has been confirmed by Hempstead-Wright, HBO, or producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, but we do know that, according to Nairn, Hodor has a year off. And since he wasn't killed the last time we saw him - when Bran, Hodor, and Meera entered the lair of the Three-Eyed Raven - we're presuming that the entire storyline's on hold.
Which is certainly one way to handle the juggling of storylines as the series catches up ever-so-quickly with George R.R. Martin's books - a growing concern for fans these days. It's doubtful the show will ever leave out marquee characters like Tyrion and Daenerys, but could this tactic work for other roles? Theon/Reek could surely vanish for a spell. But what about the Stark girls, Arya and Sansa? Jon and Sam? What do you guys think (no book spoilers though)?

This eventual moment has been brought up alongside your name in the book thread before.
And in regard to a couple posts above, Bran will be in the season. The whole rumor that he is out is taken from Hodor's actor saying "we" won't be in it....but it appears he may have been talking about himself and Meera Reed.
Bran will most definitely be in the season. He already comes off as a detached character to many of the more impatient show watchers. Losing him for a season would be catastrophic and the worst writing move I could imagine. They just spent half the last seasons budget on his damn skeleton fight. They aren't gonna leave it on a 2 year cliffhanger just because his storyline is caught up to the books.
2 weeks apart^^^ The same typo twice
