Nobody thought Lemieux was going to win but the conventional wisdom was that the two guys were going to be throwing heat at one another for however long it took Golovkin to knock Lemieux out. That makes for a potentially exciting match-up.
All anyone expected from Floyd/berto was 12 boring rounds of Floyd defensively outclassing his opponent just like always.

So outclassin your opponent is only cool if you show less skill while doing so


Safe to say that not everyone finds Floyd's style boring friend. That "boring" fight will end up doing triple what this did and it had a better undercard (imo) but only one ppv was trashed by the media and fans.

Neither of those fights should have been on ppv.

Thats all on Golden Boy N them being Desperate...smart business men woulda let lemeuix fight N kill two bums to build him into GGG jr...then unify Canelo vs Lemeuix on PPV....all in house all the money is yours...lemeuix would a built his name up N they would a ate

Nah if you're a fan of anyone on the card then but I find it weird how everyone was shytting on Floyd/Berto somehow didn't have an issue here when David was a bigger underdog than Berto

Arguing against the majority of fans/casuals being more inclined to watch two guys beat each other's brains out over a 12 round defensive clinic is nonsensical.
While a portion of boxing fans are into Floyd's style, the majority prefer more action oriented fights. That is just facts and is why it is easier for Golovkin to get this monster push by the boxing establishment.

I recall reading something when the fight was first announced about Oscar letting Lemieux know about the offer to fight Golovkin and that Lemieux immediately jumped at the chance.

I think it has been proven already that Canelo will fight whoever Canelo wants to fight regardless of how Oscar feels.

Yeah well my point was the blatant bias neither were ppv worthy but people are only honest about one. It was a cool card but I saw it for free, no way I would have paid money for this especially after all these high quality pbc feast we've been getting lately. I'm good.

I think it's because the lineal MW title is a huge deal and Cotto is keeping GGG from that big career achievement. It's weird to move up before becoming the lineal champ in your division.

Just sounds like the groundwork was being laid for him to pick on smaller cats who've cut their teeth as potential Floyd opponents and got a name for themselves.....all while stalling out any bigger fighters clamoring for him to move up and see them. No guy weighing 170 should be setting his sights on "smaller" guys. And Max and HBO are embarrassing for even pushing the narrative.

Makes no sense unless he's trying to get ggg on golden boy. He basically threw Lemieux away tonight and there won't be a rematch
