The domestic numbers look to be on point but the disingenuous nature of calling it a flop based merely on domestic numbers was ridiculous in and of itself. A spinoff is about to do 200 mill opening week. 60 mill domestically is still impressive. This movie will recoup its budget off domestic money alone and crush it overseas. I look forward to more of the juelzing I've already seen about The Rock's ability to lead a successful film

I haven't even seen this and will most likely not pay to see it, since I know it'll hit HBOGo by Winter the latest. I just don't get the rationale of holding The Rock to this standard of either not making great action movies or not pulling in blockbuster numbers for action movies. Who is doing both nowadays? As much as I love the John Wick series, it just had it's most successful movie, numbers-wise, and it looks like Hobbs and Shaw will eclipse it's total by week 2. We haven't been in the era of singular stars propelling quality and blockbuster movies in a long time.

This was basically Stupid Mission Impossible and I loved every second of it.
It's a throwback to the 80s style summer blockbuster that realized sometimes all you need is lowbrow humor, lots of explosions, cool car chases and an overabundance of wanton violence.

I love the era of just enjoying movies for what they are worth vs over analyzing and being over critical about every damn movie.

I recently went back to watch Beverly Hills Cop 2 and bugged out laughing at how current coli critics would tear it apart and shyt on that movie if it dropped today

Did not see the cameos coming although I should've expected Kevin Hart's.

I really thought they were priming Idris for a face turn by the end of the movie too


Also, am I buggin or did Shaw say he killed his brother near the end? Did he mean Idris or his actual brother?

I love the era of just enjoying movies for what they are worth vs over analyzing and being over critical about every damn movie.

I recently went back to watch Beverly Hills Cop 2 and bugged out laughing at how current coli critics would tear it apart and shyt on that movie if it dropped today

Sometimes I just want to kick back, shut my brain off and be entertained for a couple hours and this movie satisfied that need for me.
