They should of ended this shyt a long time ago.

People say this all the time and I dont get it. Seasons 5 & 6 were bad but the shows that are considered the best ever have all had weak seasons.

They praise The Wire and ignore season 2 & 5. They praise Breaking Bad and ignore some of the useless and unbelievable episodes of season 2 & 3.

The only reason Dexter gets hate like this is because everyone remembers it being the best show on TV for 2 years running, and are eager to point out plot holes and flaws compared to its best seasons.

The allure wears off of everything no matter what it is.

Breaking Bad only had 1 really good season because Gus Fring put the show on his back.

The Dooms Day Killer season was sub par, only good thing it set the tone for season 7 & 8.

The show has gotten darker, I like how they pulled that off. Matthews is going to play a big role in this season. They would need one more season if they wanted people to swallow Dexter going to jail or going on the run. I feel this season will be about Dexter getting closure.

This is a top 10 show, with one weak season.

The allure has not wore off, everyone will be watching season 8.

Season 5 had its moments (Dexter reaching a breaking point killing dude in the bathroom) but overall it was weak. Jordan Chase wasn't a convincing villain to me and I thought the season went out on a corny note. Bad guys like him and DDK would've been body parts by episode 3 in some of the earlier seasons. And I can understand Dex was slipping at that point, but it kinda felt like the writers were creating problems with weak opponents just to have conflict.

This past season got back into a lot of the things people liked about Dexter and it had 3 or 4 episodes that really stood out for the first time since season 4. I particularly liked the flashback scene where Dexter was re-creating a crime scene for Doakes and he knew something was off by how excited he was explaining it.

But yeah I agree with you. Top 10 show that never blatantly jumped the shark.

Season 5 had to play out that way, funeral scene in season 5 had me :sadcam:

I felt season 6 was drawn out and really added little to the show's progress, the Deb reveal was the only good thing from season 6. I would have watched a whole season of Deb on the psychiatrist couch, than that DDK nonsense.

Its either Matthews or Batista in the mix, Matthews has been top notch since day 1, so I'll be glad to see more of him.
