Honestly, I know it was developed last year, but it feels so dated. From the slang to the plot and even the characters; Token gay friend, works at a gun and knife shop, cop girlfriend, and his dark passenger is now Debra. All seems...tired even before it begins. Also the badly cgi white buck? no thanks, we've hit a point of jumping the blood splatter and it all just feels way too boring. Also Dexter; Boruto just feels like I want to turn off the tv. His son finds him via IG...
It all just feels like fan fiction.

To be honest, that was the EXACT criticism I had after the original pilot. I remember saying that Dexter himself was great, but all the side characters were over-exaggerated stereotypes.
I had to justify it in my mind by saying that we we just seeing them through Dexter's eyes.

One weird thing is this rural town Dexter lives in is diverse as hell. That's not typical of rural areas I've seen.
