Happy this is back because it deserved a proper send off of some sort. The writers strike hit this show the hardest after season 4 and it never recovered.

Yeah really sloppy on dex and harrison part not getting together a little story together quick. All cop lady gotta do is look up his mom, and she'll see photos of dexter right? Stupid but drama i guess. Im guessing Dex gets out of this by making the other killer look guilty of the a$$hole. Cop lady probably gonna figure things out and die. Harrison will probably be the one to handle that, he's probably not full killer like Dex but I think they've laid some seeds of potential psychopathy (observant, seeming high intelligence, charming etc)
They could go twist route again and have her have some dark secret too but I don't see them doing the killer gf plot again.

Watch Season 7, it's the 3rd best season of the show....imo.

I used to think that way about season 4 too, until I did a re-watch and was shocked at how subpar it was overall outside of the classic, memorable moments. I rank it fourth:

Oh wow, you got 2 first? I loved 2 when it was happening. Going back to it after the series ended I felt like almost all the tension of its original broadcast was gone since I knew for certain he wasn't going to get caught. Still a great season, just not as good for me on rewatch. I agree with your second half rankings 100% though

Honestly, I know it was developed last year, but it feels so dated. From the slang to the plot and even the characters; Token gay friend, works at a gun and knife shop, cop girlfriend, and his dark passenger is now Debra. All seems...tired even before it begins. Also the badly cgi white buck? no thanks, we've hit a point of jumping the blood splatter and it all just feels way too boring. Also Dexter; Boruto just feels like I want to turn off the tv. His son finds him via IG...

I got it close with season 1, but the fukkery with Doakes just puts it over the top for me.

Yeah they should've did the cat and mouse game for at least one more season.
It's especially frustrating since they just did a half baked retread of it with Quinn anyway
I still think the ending to season 2 is perfect. I enjoyed some of the later seasons but if I could end the show anywhere to keep its quality I would have ended it there. They def. got rid of Doakes too early, they did the cat and mouse thing with other characters but they never really had that on yo ass energy he had.
