the hart name was more important than anything. he couldnt really quit. if anything he shouldve turned down vince's offer but the chance at a push and star power without being bret's younger brother and the chance to make his own little mark is something anybody would take.
i mean the boys are all wrestlers and the girls all married wrestlers... thats 11 people at a minimum. Stu also had Benoit, Pillman and didnt Jericho come from the dungeon... the pressure to make your own name is real
What I don't get is why he didn't leave with everyone else after the Montreal Screwjob

I know after winning the ic title Owen was gonna be repackaged as the game.

On if ‘The Game’ nickname was originally intended for Owen Hart: “I have no idea where that rumor came from. The Game was never a nickname that was intended for anybody. I legitimately said it in a promo off the cuff, an unscripted promo with Jim Ross. We were backstage, it was an unscripted promo, Jim literally came in and said, ‘I’m gonna ask you these questions, answer how you want.’ It was right when I was turning, I was really becoming the hard edged heel. A big term then was being a student of the game. You really want to be good at this business, you gotta be a student of the game. Just like anything else. You want to be a great NBA player, you gotta be a student of the game, you gotta watch the people that came before you, you gotta study everything. All of that, it was said a lot in our business. And in that promo, I legitimately used the F word and they had to beep it out, the promo was so good that they were like, ‘We’re gonna keep it, we’re just gonna beep out the F word,’ but I didn’t think anything more about it than that. And then, following week on TV when I came out, there were signs that just said, ‘Triple H the F-ing Game,’ or “Triple H is the Game’ or whatever it was. The Game thing stuck. I remember distinctly walking out on stage and seeing like six or seven signs and thinking like, it took me a second to go like, ‘That thing I said last week in that promo, that stuck. That’s it.'”

Dude, if you read Jim Ross' books, that motherfukker stayyyyed getting sonned by Vince.

Like Vince got off one humiliating him, even after he fired him.

Jim Ross had to have surgery on his colon and Vince called him to tell him to make sure that he watched "Raw" because he had a special surprise for him, and it ended up being Vince portraying Jim Ross having surgery for having to pull his head out of his ass.

HIs wife, and friends, and everybody were pissed off as hell, but he kept going back:francis:

Oh shut up, :stopitslime:

If a motherfukker killed a member of your family, you wouldn't be trying to take blood money from them.
I lost a gang of respect for J.R. back when he said that "took his ball and went home" rant about stone cold after he walked out. I'm not a fan of Steve Austin the person but he was the one who (along with the rock) made Vince let jr commentate their WrestleMania match, he was also stone colds best man in his wedding. That shyt never sat right with me

On the Conrad podcast, the creators mention the stunt coordinator that was considered expensive had a bad feeling about how they were gonna do the stunt. He called the E back and told them he’d do it for the price they were offering him. The E turned him down since they already had everything in motion. :francis:

Wow

On JR's podcast it sounded to me like they were unsure if they were coming back. They basically said that there were other projects that interests them and how draining it was producing this season with all the flying back and forth and trying to track down people for interviews.

They’ll definitely be back for a season 3. Probably just need some R&R. Vice will renew and they’ll absolutely be on board to do more

No, I mean quit the night of Over the Edge. Owen clear didn’t want to do the stunt. John Pollock had an audio doc on that night and Vince forced him to do it or he’s fired, I would’ve just quit then. Who cares about winning the IC Title or whatever foolishness Russo would’ve done with the Blue Blazer under the guise of a push. They clearly didn’t care about Owen’s safety with the cheap and unqualified stunt coordinator and the fact Owen wasn’t trained to do the stunt. It’s just more less Vince has an extreme God complex and the talent are merely pawns.

I feel like “Vince forced him to do it or he’d be fired” is a folklore/ hearsay thing

As I understand it Owen was highly regarded in the company and firing him/ threatening to fire him wasn’t on the table.

Nor do I think Vince is in involved in EVERY detail of the show and the performers therein (though I know he does micromanage)

My guess is Owen did push back to some degree or say he wasn’t thrilled about the stunt or was nervous, and lower level producers insisted not to worry and he’d be fine... I don’t think word ever travelled back up to Vince or Vince would have been irate enough to fire Owen over pushing back
