I don't see the MEAC pulling teams from the SWAC. The SWAC is the premier HBCU football conference....why would teams leave that? And the travel would be outrageous. Imagine Alabama State having to travel to play Morgan, Howard and Norfolk State the same season smh.

As Byron Allen sees it, it’s a cultural lifestyle destination and leading sports media provider “that embraces and represents the voice of Black Excellence” capturing the history, diversity, perspectives, and cultural experiences at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Now, the Allen Media Group HBCU GO app has a multi-year partnership in place with a NCAA Division I conference linked to such institutions of higher learning.

The agreement is with the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and it grants HBCU GO cable, linear, streaming, broadcast, VOD, and pay-per-view rights to conference sporting events starting with the 2022-2023 season.

The agreement includes collegiate football, basketball, volleyball, and Olympic sports. Some contests and events will also air on AMG’s free-streaming digital platforms theGrio, Local Now, and Sports.TV.

“We’re extremely excited to partner with the Allen Media Group and HBCU GO,” said
SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland. “This partnership will be a game-
changer for our league along with the 12 member institutions that we serve. The
ability to showcase our sports programs across such a wide variety of multimedia
and digital platforms will undoubtedly take SWAC sports programming to the next
level while providing our fans and supporters with unprecedented access to SWAC
events in all the sports that our league currently offers.

The company announced on Wednesday that will give eligible student-athletes of all genders the opportunity, directly with adidas, to become paid affiliate brand ambassadors. And HBCUs, along with Power Five programs, will be amongst the first to benefit from the roll out. This is a first for a major brand.

Alabama State, Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Grambling State and Prairie View A&M all meet the criteria as Division I HBCU schools. HBCUs, along with Power Five programs, are set to start the rollout this fall.
