Do you start inside with seedlings, or do you start everything outside? I have 2 pepper seedling cups in my kitchen window, and a broccoli seedling. The peppers started to sprout about 2 days after I planted them. It was exciting. I imagine that's what women feel when they see an ultrasound for the the first time. The vegetable blooming from the flower must be like when they feel the baby move for the first time, and picking it, it like the birth.

Do you bring the plants inside for the winter, or let them stay out?
I let the kale stay outside all winter it survived very well out here in DC without hoophouses or really any protection. Snow, tiny hail, freezing rain and all that. In fact, it just got sweeter and darker purple. Hopefully my old landlord doesnt cut it down before it goes to seed but we will see. For everyone that is not as tolerant as brassicas, i want to build some tiny hoophouse or at least some sorta earthen shield to protect some things in the winter and build up some hardiness. epigenetics :blessed:

Inside with seedlings or starter plants I get at a local nursery. You can do seed in raised beds too but I like the more certain yield you get when starting from an established seedling.

The three sisters. I gotta reup on my companion planting strategies.
next had all these little cac aphids.
I've just moved and the backyard had these wild turnips or something and they had them. Did you notice that they all move in unison? It was really crazy to see. I saw them last Thursday and yesterday they are all gone. Crazy how life works

Anybody grow potatoes from just throwing a sprouting potato in the ground?
I'm having some success so far with a sweet potato I left in the cabinet and it started throwing slips out. I broke off that growing half and stuck it in my compost. After about a month and a half it has started growing again. The leaves ere used yoo growing in the dark and quickly sunburned away. Now that after growing well. I'll keep stabbing it with soil throughout the summer sund see what happens. I read or heard somewhere that growing them is a great way to get mice and rats, so I'll put out some traps.

Tried some last year using fencing, making it into a cylinder and layering with hay. didnt turn out so well, but gonna give it another shot. lotta videos on how to.

They make it look easy on youtube with the grow bags.

We have NOT had a lot of sun these past two weeks. I planted a small pepper plant, and a small roma tomato plant, along with cherry tomato seedlings, cucumber seeds, and a slice of campari tomato. I'm going to attempt a potato when it sprouts, and some green onions.

Anyone got a lemon tree? I read its better to buy one already a bit grown than to start from seed
Lemme know this works. For you I dried out a lemon from my friends parents house when I get a lil more stable I'd live to grow it from seed. I'd imagine once you have it a fairly mature, 2 years or so, you could start making cuttings to sell.

Good deal. I grew sweet potatoes the last few years. FYI, the vines go everywhere so make sure you have space or somewhere for them to go.

Also when they are done, you need to cure the sweet potatoes in a warm place for a week or so before using.
