Small preview of BP #8. Shuri's hair does change after all:leon:

So much for the headpiece theory.

For the Dora milaje I actually preferred longer hair because the all look the same with short hair but I think shuri should have short hair.

I feel that all warriors of Wakanda, male and female, should have short hair for practicality purposes. I know practicality means little in comics these days (if ever, tbh), but it helps explain why Shuri and the Doras often have short hair, while Ramonda--who isn't a warrior--has longer hair.

I know most Marvel films get shot in Atlanta, but they are shooting some scenes in Africa right? :patrice:

Should have the scope and feel that Beasts of No Nation had :yeshrug:

I believe it's been confirmed that there will be some scenes shot in Africa. Apparently both Coogler and Boseman have done some preproduction work there....

I think there should be a variety of hairstyles. It would be boring if all the Warriors had short hair styles.

It'll be fine, what will make the movie boring is a lack of great scenes, boring dialogue, lack of personalities, and the like.

The Doras are a unit. It makes sense for them so have some uniformity, in addition to having short hair strictly for practical purposes when they are in the battlefield or in close-quarter-combat. Just because they have short hair doesn't mean they won't be distinguishable from each other. No different than military movies in which everyone in a unit has short here, including the main character, supporting character, and so one. We also won't be knowing every single Dora, just mostly Nakia, Okoye, and Ayo.

As for the rest of the warriors, practicality aside, they aren't super powered beings (Thor) or people who just recently decided to do some vigilantism or the super hero stuff (almost all of the Avengers). Nor are they (former) spies like Black Widow (her hair isn't that long either, again for practical purposes). These are people who, early in their lives, dedicated themselves to a particular path, which has many expectations, traditions, and so on.

Different afrikan hairstyles >>>>>>> bald look

Women of all sectors, military to security, can be uniform without sacrificing their hair. Nakia and Okoye as originally created by Priest have hair. The bald stuff was just some arbitrary move Hudlin made that stuck bc no writer that came after him gave a shyt about the Doras being anything more than background props, until Coates. Funny enough, Coates decides to give Aneka hair to distinguish her.

I'm all for having hair, I just think that it should be short considering their position in Wakandan society. Wasn't advocated for the bald look specifically.

Even Aneka's hair is short, in fact.

Their position in Wakandan society being tied to their hair length and style... is random. They were bold, but Shuri isn't bold. Shuri has short hair but Ramonda doesn't. Aneka was bald in Ultimates but not in Coates run.

These writers/artists just making shyt up.

By position in Wakandan society, I was referring to them being warriors.

I just think it makes sense that the warriors of Wakanda, male and female, have short hair. Whether it be short like Aneka's and Shuri's or bald like several of the recent doras, it doesn't have to be strictly one way or the other, ideally it should be both and up to said character him/herself.

Meanwhile, Ramonda isn't a warrior, hence her hair is long.

That's how I would do it. The hair stuff won't a dealbreaker to me though, and I'm confident that the MCU will handle that well.:yeshrug:
