Remember that Wakanda is an isolationist African nation, with practically no foreigners. To have a biracial actress portray a Wakandan would be quite jarring.

I'm actually surprised that there wasn't a push back on the race bending of Valkyrie. She's is a straight up blond haired, blue-eyed white woman in the comics, yet is portrayed by a biracial actress, and barely a peep.
Either Valkyrie doesn't have many fans, or she isn't that important to many folks, or perhaps people actually like the casting
or maybe the white female fans are good, so long as Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel are in the pipeline..............

They should all look like kin to Chadwick Boseman IMO. It's an isolated kingdom, how would diversity be explained?

Breh if you have all the woman sharing the same hue sporting that dwayne wade hairdo they will become indistinguishable, this movie is a perfect excuse to promote all the beautiful shades of black. Could go a long way in having this do incredible hulk numbers or Cap2

But that's not possible and there is a very good in-story reason for that. Wakanda has been isolationist till very very recently. So the skin tone of the Wakandans can't vary too much. Unless you want Wakanda's history to change.
Obviously not every Wakandan woman is going to have short hair, but the Wakandan women people are most familiar with (Shuri and the Doras) are warriors and have short hair. Ramonda isn't a warrior thus her hair is longer. Danai playing either Shuri or a member of the Dora's makes perfect sense, which is why she's mentioned.

Why her In particular though? is she the only African looking woman with short hair working in Hollywood (aside from lypita). She's too old to play shuri for 1 and is not really attractive at all. It might be an inconvenient reality but they need to be crafty in how they cast the woman in this movie, being authentic is noble and all but wakanda is a African country that technologically advanced just bare that in mind, having one of its natives looking like jada pinkett is not going to rock the Apple cart
