This is definitely the best MCU film ever. Killmonger is the best MCU villain until maybe big T.

I had a longer review in mind but fukk it. The only critique I could give is that BP's CGI looked fugazi at times especially near the end.

Comfertably my second personal favourite CBM of all time.

But Ryan Coogler did fantastic. He brought that serious tonality to the MCU I was looking for and did it right. I want to seem him do non-BP related stuff, like maybe The Silver Surfer, Doom or some other origin story.
Shame they couldn't give this movie didn't have top notch CGI. People seem to be using that "flaw" as a way to reduce the movie.

Same for the "Slow start" World building and setting up just don't matter huh. Yall would have bought Wakanda, T'Challa just as is :aicmon:

Haven't watched the full video but RLM dude talking about how he wasn't engaged the first half of the movie.

Cats on Reddit, SHH, etc. Saying either Feige is lying to hype the movie or Feige just says dumb stuff. Like there can be no argument for BP being of the very best if not the best :dahell:

I mean it currently is the highest rated MCU film by critics, and considering Feige wants Coogler back, I would say he was very satisfied with the final product.

That was dope how he slipped some mozzy in at the end

Edit: Just noticed this track didn't make it to the soundtrack (despite being played in the movie). Too Short too. Mozzy did make it onto a different song on the soundtrack however.

Crushed the building with the fewest number of theaters in the top 15:wow:

That's insane, no team-up, no stark stimulus, :wow::mjgrin::whoo:

I wanna see it again (to catch some more stuff), but it does look like this one is going to packed forever. :francis:

You can't be serious :gucci:

From another site:
Saw it last night. Solid movie, but definitely not a 10/10. More on par with other MCU flicks like Ant-Man or Dr. Strange than the best ones like The Avengers, Civil War, or Guardians of the Galaxy, imo. 7.5/10

A few reviews from another forum

Watch for Spoilers
The 'Good';

- Nice refreshing look at a 'new world' (even though it is on Earth) & it's culture(s). One of the core plot points/goals of the movie is actually building Wakanda up & explaining it to the audience & for the most part I think this was a success. In some ways it reminded me a lot of the initial Thor & GoTG movie.

- The Dora Milaje, in particular Lupita Nyong'o (Nakia) & Danai Gurira (Okoye) were very good & I actually feel they outshone even Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman himself in the movie.

- Michael B Jordan as Killmonger was very good, it's good to see he got a 2nd crack at a superhero movie to redeem the Fantastic Four fiasco & much like other actors who've got 2nd chances in the world of comic book movies ie Chris Evans & Ben Affleck, he redeemed himself with a very good performance. The one critique I would have, which was beyond his control, is that he just doesn't get anywhere near enough screen time, which is pretty much an MCU wide problem & it's one of the reasons why most of the actual villains in the MCU are for the most part weak IMO. However in this case he still made it work with what he got.

- As someone who's knowledge on Black Panther is fairly minimal as he was never a character I found particularly appealing, I feel the movie has done a good job of making me far more interested in the character & his surrounding 'world' to the point that I'll look into picking up some of the characters more famous titles next time I'm in the comic book store to try & bring my knowledge of the character up more.

The 'Bad';

- Bad pacing issues, first 1/2 of the movie goes really slowly & drags certain elements out for far too long. Also on the flipside there are other things that it don't get dragged out enough.

- Some of the CGI is poor & quite unnecessarily used at times particularly in some of the fight or action scenes in which practical effects, wires & stuntmen would have made it look more convincing.

- At least one other person touched upon it in one of their reviews in this thread, but they have crossed a line in terms of how much technologically advanced Wakanda is as a nation is & what Vibranium can actually do. The necklace suit(s) & the fatally wounded healing capabilities they have being 2 examples that spring out to mind as getting a little too technologically advanced . I chuckled at the necklace suit(s) because it reminded me a lot of Green Lantern & Venom in Spiderman 3, with his mask/helmet disappearing & reappearing even mid-battle to get the actor more actual face time.

- The movie was incredibly predictable & cliché at times. I saw a couple of the over the top good reviews after having seen the movie myself that stated along the lines of "Black Panther breaks the mould & the normal cliché of the MCU/Comic Book Movie." It really, really doesn't. Like. At all.

6/10

Not a bad movie. Not a very good one too. Unfortunately the main character isn't very interesting and is too sidelined by others. It has too much characters (for example - Bilbo, especially in third act looks a bit forced, and at least one female character's role (the leader of the guard) could (and should) be a little trimmed.
Weak action scenes, mediocre CGI, and a little boring in second half. Nowhere close to Marvel's best. Serkis is good but wasted. Killmonger has a motivation but the actor doesn't play him very well. Whole Wakanda concept doesn't seem to be well thought. Anyway, still a decent entry.

Well ...

6.5/10

Being a HUGE Marvel fan, this movie has me torn. The nobility of the character and his supporting characters comes across wonderfully and does justice to the source material in that regard. It’s a well written and acted film no question about it. Yet, judging it on two different fronts it is extremely lacking.

In terms of pure entertainment, it’s on the EXACT same level as Iron Man 2. (And I found IM2 to be the MCU’s weakest effort) Like IM2, Black Panther features very weak action and a “universe building” narrative held together by interesting characters and dialogue. The fight scenes are atrociously shot and almost inept. They are choppy and disjointed and in the larger scenes very cartoonish.

Then, there’s judging it on its political social commentary. That’s where it gets tricky and is where most movie critics fear to speak ill of it. Bottom line is the movie takes a stance that anyone not black is or has been an oppressor. Black Panther agrees but thinks that Wakanda should be better than the enemy and not sink to their level. Killmonger is pure black militant thinking every African descendant everywhere should be armed and violently destroy anyone of a different race. THAT is the tone of the film. In an era of divisiveness, this movie sure seems to want to bring gasoline to the fire. It’s not blatant and tries to hide it in comic book sci-fi visuals and story but it really isn’t all that subtle. The irony is that with all the pandering to today’s “victim blacks” the movie ends up tripping on its own message. Embracing African culture means having everyone dancing around like bush natives but with 23rd century technology. The assumptions it makes is insulting if you think about it. They CAN’T get ahead in modern civilization WITHOUT a “magic metal” that puts them hundreds of years ahead of the rest of the world. The message is that without Vibranium they would have no ability to prosper as a culture??? It seems this movie is less about showing pride in African culture and more about trying to perpetuate the myth that everyone of non-African decent is on some level evil. That certainly has an audience in this era whether you buy in to the white guilt propaganda or are angry at society or your place in society in general.

Does all that make a great film? The answer here is clearly NO but it doesn’t make for a bad film either.
